Here are the followers of Jesus listed in the KJ New Testament. In Christianity, the disciples were the students of Jesus during his ministry.

Simon, Peter, Cephas, James, John, Andrew,Philip, Bartholomew, Nathanael,
Matthew - Son of Alphaeus, Levi , Thomas, Didymus, James son of Alphaeus,
Thaddaeus, Judas son of James, Judas,Simon the Cananaean, Simon the Zealot , Judas Iscariot, Matthias , Jesus Bar Abbas, Joseph, Justus ,James, James the Just (the brother of Jesus) , Joanna , Martha of Bethany, Mary Magdalene , Mary the mother of James , Mary, the mother of Jesus,Mary the mother of James (James the less) and Joseph , Mary, the wife of Clopas , Salome , Susanna ....Lazarus

Are there 12 ?

Also two Jesus'

Jesus Bar Abbas Armenian versions of Matthew 27:16-17

Jesus considered himself a Bar Abba (Mk. 12:6; 13:32; Mt. 11:27; Lk. 10:22) and prays to God as Abba the Father

LUK 23:18 With one voice they cried out, "Away with this man! Release Jesus Barabbas to us! "

Yeshua Bar Abbas translates as Jesus son of the Father.
Yeshua Bar Yusef Jesus King of the Jews.
Judas Iscariot translates as "Jewish knifeman".
Peter " The Rock "
John "Son of Thunder"
Simon "The Zealot"

John 18:40 refers to Barabbas as a lēstēs, "bandit;"
Mark (15:7) mentions that he had committed murder in an insurrection.

Which Yeshua would lead an insurrection against Roman rule ? Yeshua King of the Jews (Son of David and rightful heir) or Yeshua Bar Yusef son of the father? So who would Yeshua have been in a riot or insurrection against the Romans with?

I would want my friends "The Rock" , "The Knifeman" ,"The Zealot" and "The Son of Thunder" with me in a fight.

Under Roman Law the Penalty for insurrection was Crucifiction.
The Jewish punishment for Blasphemy was Stoning to Death.

So who was released ? Yeshua Bar Abbas and who was Crucified ? Yeshua Bar Yusef . Jesus King of the Jews.

The New Testament was edited under imperial edict by Constantine. All Gospels that were anti Roman or contradictory to his will were deleted. All Gospels were then collected and edited to support Imperial Rome and justify Roman Christianity under Constantine . Hence give unto
Caesar ....! Remember what the Emperor ordered was obeyed absolutely and all the Christian Theocrats were present in his court. No escape. They obeyed.

Constantine was a follower of Sol Invictus " The Invincible Sun" which is why Christians go to Church on Sun Day !

Well, Jesus (Yeshu) in the northen Galilean Aramaic dialect, was a common name, it was a common name shortened from the classical Hebrew? Aramaic form of Yeshua.

Jesus was actually a very common name in Palestine and was popular within the Jewish population, until the second-century C.E. The Jewish stop using Jesus as a personal name and brought back Joshua.

The confusion with many of the names relating to Jesus come from the fact that the languages used during this time where three major languages, Aramaic, Hebrew and Arabic.

Names had a meaning in that time.

The confusion came when the Gospels were to be interpreted when the interpreters had not knowledge of Aramaic the original language of the Gospel.

Like I said before names had a meaning, Bar-hash like many other names were compound noun.

BAR-means 'son' Nashua means 'man'

The bible translators at the time didn't took in consideration this facts when they were written the Gospels.

The BAR- 'son' could be joined with any name, like Barabbas son of the father, or in the Aramaic language could also mean He resembles his father.

BAR-Agra means 'son of the rooftop' but in Aramaic could mean a 'lunatic', so using BAR in front of a name was to give meaning to that name.

So it was widely used at the time.

BAR-Dalia means son of God, or God's child,

So is not difficult to get confuse when two persons in the bible seems to have the same name.

I hope it helps, I believe that many confusions in the bible are front the translators themselves and not from the bible itself.

Interesting read here. I will do some research on it. I do not know much about the languages, so i cannot offer much help, or even good opinion on it. One thing I must agree with is the fact that I too think that a lot of the confusion that comes with the bible has a large roll to play with its' translation.

*Interesting topic*

I don't know why people get so attached to that King James bible.
It's missing 6 books; it was twisted around by Martin Luther; and
it's full of errors and omitions .

Right.

Disciples are:
student followers of the teacher

Apostles are:
those who are 'sent'

I agree with Flyers Fan, the King James is EDITED so much that it hardly makes sense. I read the Aquarian Gospel of Jesus along with the Gospels of his disciples to get a better understanding.

The King James was influenced by English poets. I'd say....65 percent of it is accurate? Maybe?

Jesus, Yeshua, Isa...had 12 disciples in the beginning who then went out and brought 70 disciples. They go as followed...

1.Simon Peter 2.Andrew 3.John the Eldest 4.James the Evangelist 5.Thomas Didymus-Judas 6.Matthew 7.Bartholomew aka Nathaniel 8.Jude 9.Simon Zelotes 10.James, the son of Alphaeus 11. Judas Iscariot 12.James, brother if Jesus
People add Simon and Peter as two for some reason. Also Nathaniel and Bart were one and Thomas-Didymus-Judas were one. Judas was a common name until the "Traitor Conspiracy" came to a head. Didymus means "Twin" so Thomas was the twin of another Judas. LOL, Jesus himself had a brother named Judas.
www.biblegateway.com...

[55]"Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?

In the Aquarian Gospel, I learned that Jesus preached that we were all the Sons of God if we let him in our hearts. He (Jesus) was called "the Logos" -Greek translation "the WORD" because he was God's Word come to Flesh.

I'm an avid studier of Jesus and I'm putting together a miniseries of his entire life through the Nag Hammadi texts. The only thing I'm concerned with is its marketing and pitch...lol
