Feds: Millions Have Eaten Chickens Fed Tainted Pet Food

People have eaten millions of chickens that were given feed tainted with recalled pet food, federal officials said Tuesday, though they said the threat to human health is minimal.

The announcement came after an investigation of chicken farms in Indiana found that 38 of the facilities had given contaminated feed to poultry raised for human consumption, and that 2.5 million to 3 million people ate them.

The officials added that they expect to discover that chickens on possibly hundreds of farms in other states were also given tainted feed.

Unbelievable now we find out that they have been feeding tainted pet food to millions of chickens. They claim it probably is safe but come on, The FDA/US needs to stop importing foods from China. Once China heard of the possibility of tainted beef they stop importing and we should do the same and now before anyone gets killed.

I'm not sure why we are importing food or pet food products and feed from China in the first place. Maybe some corporation decided it could save a buck by doing so. Now I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people have this tainted pet food chemical building up inside their tissues.

Actually, for health reasons I started back to vegetarian last year, and now I'm reading labels even more, as many vegie style contain--ta da--all these glutens! Are these from China, and contaminated?

I know for Thanksgiving my turkey's coming from the local farm in the hills.
And no/least processed is better.

From the article, the good news was it may not have been the melamine alone, the bad news was it may have been a combination of melamine and cyanuric acid found in another imported, contaminated product!!!!

Um... what about the tainted water supply, and the tainted toothpaste ?
