Not to say that these types of recordings cant be fakes but the banter between the towers and the pilot sounds authentic.

Did a search and didnt see any previous posts about this, so here it is for your listening pleasure!

Cockpit recordings are about the only type of incident I will really pay any attention to anymore due to the veracity of the witnesses involved. This guy sounds like he is pretty geeked out about the whole ordeal.

I am trying to get some authentication on it but being an alledged transmission from Europe might make that a bit difficult. Drexon, calling Drexon....

Discuss and comment at your leisure...

wow this sounds very exiting. Especially if you speak Dutch and hear the pilot speaking. First he is very calm and act sort of 'dry' as we call it in The Netherlands but then when he sees it for the second time, he gets really crazy at the end and says he's afraid to fly further in that direction.

One thing that struck me is that ground control keeps saying they're not seeing anything on radar, but the thing is, normal airports don't have radar, they "only" have equipment that's specialized in picking up transponder signals and locating them on a map. At least so I've been told.. I believe the exact quote was that "Normal airports couldn't pick up a flying dishwasher if one were to exist".

Interesting, I don't speak the lingo, but the translations seemed to fit well enough.

One thing tho, do air controllers have that much time to spare? I guess they (the two controllers) had back up collegues to take over the other traffic in the area, may also of been a small local tower - don't know too much about all that.

Could be a fake - Could be genuine, but mistaken (do pilots drop acid?) - Or could be 100% would like to know more

Yeah, he sounded like he was really torn between getting the hell out of there and not being able to rip his eyes away from it....

Probably how I would react. After pissing myself...

Yes I
think the
airport or
traffic con-
trollers do
say they have it
on radar near
the end of recording..
OK?

Very cool! That dude sounds scared to me, I am on the fence with but leaning hard towards genuine.
Great find

Very compelling to say the least.

This is actually a real nice recording. You can clearly hear that this guy at first is your typical dry man with not much going on. Then all of a sudden at midpoint he starts going bonkers over what he's witnessing. This is raw emotion, I really doubt this is a fake.

all seems fully legit to me, very nice recording, thanx for bringing it to us. I must admit im curious as to what took this so long to hit ats, being that its from 1997, has anything changed recently to have made this information more accsesible to us or just a matter of it being previously overlooked?

I have a couple of inquiries out to the poster at YouTube (noviobatavia channel) and to the SimonSays site to whomever posted it out there to come here and join in on the discussion. Lets see if we get any bites....

This was great! Best I've seen/heard in a long while.
Too bad it's been 10 years. I would have loved to have
heard from these guys when it was fresh in their minds.

Excellent find.
Excellent post!

The audio blew me away...

Wow, you can really tell. I'm 80% sure this is genuine. Good find!

Now, one thing, can you find any sources besides YouTube about this particular incident? I think that would help authenticate this a little better.

It sounds very true to me, being Dutch makes it easier to understand what he is saying, and the translation is very good. Groningen airport Eelde has radar and it's not a big airport so the controllers probably have more "free" time.. Tobad i can't remember this being in the news in 1997 maybe it wasn't even..We will probably never know what he did see though.

I dont know if this is related in any way other than the description is similar and the year and location are relative.

NEW UFO SIGHTING IN THE NETHERLANDS

A gathering of 30 UFOs, similar to last week's incident in New Brighton, Minnesota, took place at the same time in Heerhugowaard (population 45,000), a city in the Netherlands 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Amsterdam.

One night last week, R. Groeneveld, 62, who lives on the Versproncklaan in Heerhugowaard, spotted several bright UFOs doing aerobatic maneuvers over the neighborhood. "He counted, he says, at least 30 flying saucers above his house. Also his daughter, her friend, a girl friend, and the neighbor have seen the oval-shaped objects with flashing lights in the air. 'I think we're being observed,' Groeneveld said." (See the newspaper Noordhollands Weekblad for May 1, 1997. Many thanks to Jeroen Wierda of Picard UFO Research International for sending us this story.)

SOURCE

Maybe some local Dutch ATSers could see what the proximities between these two are and check THIS page out and translate it for corraborating info.

Wow, that was a credible sounding recording. He really did sound excited and frightened -- I wish I could have seen what he seen. It was either something military in the area or he saw something else in the out-of-this-world category. Good post, thanks.

Very nice and clear recording of the cockpit and Air Traffic Controllers Lost_Mind.
Sounds very authenic to me, but I'm no expert to say the least. The pilot and controllers in the beginng of the recording are joking about it being a Santa Claus/UFO, then later the pilots whole emotion & voice changes to being freaked out and scared. So scared he couldn't land the plane if he had to. When the pilot gets a little ticked off and tells the controllers that he know how to estimate altitude is why I really think most if not all pilots are very creditable witnesses when it comes to seeing these strange ufo's in the sky. First recording I've heard that is clear and can understand what their saying to one another. Hope the experts and people that know more about this can get more information on this case. Good find again Lost_Mind.

Seems to me, when a very-well regarded researcher such as "FlyersFan" says it impressive, it must be. As I wrote before..in my opinion wow.
And you know what?, strictly Audio -- it's a first for me to see such Member supported interest.

You know what he sounded like to me? Truth.

He sounded like a person who after years of either not paying attention to or flat out denying phenomena like this was confronted by what in his mind was the unconfrontable. In fact, in the exchange he had with the towers he expresses his wrongful doubting of things like this. He didnt know whether to cry, laugh, shut up or or jump out of the damn plane, nearly giddy with disbelief.

A revelation is a very special event and is usually life changing. I would be curious to see what his current stance on what happened to him and the phenomena in general is like.

BTW, thanks for all of the thanks but it isnt necessary.

I'm just the passer of the torch here - if I see info worthy of mention then I just pass it on. I will still try to gather more on this though... I would encourage others to do the same, especially our European brothers.
