The only things you are really missing is that genetics and most sciences have nothing to with what is occuring in regards to these select few, and that they are the antithesis to all that we (including these few) believe is true in this world. These individuals are beginning to transcend their very existances. However, it is an extremely mentally wearing process that pushes those individual's sanity to the breaking point (but not over, as that technique is best left to militaries), and makes these people question the very nature of the cosmos itself, while further alienating them from the people they know and care about (alienation is a constant companion especially during childhood). Secondly, these abilities that begin to manifest (the Buddah-dama mentions this process in the search for the "heartwood" tale), defy all conventional physics, and the more esoteric sciences such as string theory are surprisingly dead on in regards to how one should perceive their environments and more properly manifest their abilities. After a time, these individuals really begin to seek the answers they have always been denied, although there is never a guarentee that they will believe it when the truth is revealed.
