you have at least one or you know someone who does.

maybe you hate them and wouldnt get one on a dare or you simply havent worked up the courage to get one...

well this is the tattoo thread. its purpose? to discuss tattoos in general, their history, the reason behind each tattoo you get, why you got a tattoo to begin with, etc.
also this is to help those who may not be fully aware of the facts of tattoos become a little more informed. showing of pics is encouraged as is tattoo designs/ideas. and maybe if some of the artfully inclined are in a good mood they might be be willing to help someone find/come up with a tattoo design. i'm working on my a design presently...i might show it when i'm done.

as for me i have three tattoos currently and i'll probably have a fourth in about a month...maybe less. i love tattoos, i think they're addictive.

i know at least a couple other members on the board have tattoos (one has a screaming chicken from a trans am) so i want to see some people hitting this thread soon!

BTW the screaming hand to the left?? thats a future tattoo design, probably gonna be number five...not sure yet.

I've got 6.
This will be my 7th, hopefully within the next month or two.
Now that I know someone who "knows someone," the money thing won't be so much of an issue. These things are damned expensive!!
Can we talk about piercings here, too? I've desperately wanted a labret piercing for years now, but with my job & all ... well, that'd be a bad place to get a piece of steel ripped out of.

Cool thread !!

I have chaos arrows on my left shoulder. It's just black for now, but I want to have blue energy surrounding it.

I also want to get a barcode tattoo on my neck or inside wrist. I've been fascinated by barcodes for years.

My wife has piercings and one tattoo.

Tongue, eyebrow, and as of New Years Eve...a set of npple rings.

I've been working on a tat for an ATS member (mulberryblueshimmer) for a month or so. I'll post it here with her permission. I have designed about a dozen of my friends tattoos over the years. I'll try and get some pics uploaded of them. I wish I could do the actual ink myself, but I've heard it's extremely difficult.

bashee sure we can discuss piercings as well since most tattoo shops have piercers (or is that piercists?) on site.

here's the picture of the design i'm working on...

i'm converting it into color presently and is going to take me awhile. i'll show a pic of it once i'm done coloring it in. it was a board i had years ago and i sorta know the guy that owns the company that made the board...well i asked him for the graphic so i could get it made into a tattoo...and he doesnt have it in color so i'm having to color it in...and remembering the colors isnt easy, its been years. i always thought it'd make a nice tattoo...i'll find out soon.

That picture of an eye with two pupils reminds me a little of this doll I have from the 1940s . It is called pretty peepers and there is a button on it's stomach that you press to change it's eyes from brown to blue , but because it's old the eyes get stuck halfway between sometimes.
I think its a cool picture.
I have just 1 small tattoo of a butterfly on my shoulder, but would like another on my foot somewhere but not until I come up with something that I'm gonna be happy to live with.

Five tats (so far) arranged in two scenes.

All Jay Ward characters. Boris & Natascha passing a bomb back and forth...and Dudley Do-right saving Nell Fenwick from Snidley Whiplash.

Peabody & Sherman (each arm) next.

I love the understatement bubble gum punk of Jay Ward. "Popular" counter culture... under the radar.

If you don't "get it"...good. Most aren't supposed to.

here's a recent update on the work i've been doing with my design...coloring it while keeping the curves looking nice isnt easy!

i'm using solid coloring, no shading or highlighting so saving it in a gif format screws up the effect i'm going for. bitmap is the format i'm using to color it in with. saving it as a bitmap doesnt distort the colors, which is good because i got tired of going back and trying to fix the distortions when i was using a jpeg format...ugh!

anyway there you go, its not done...and purple background isnt part of the design, i just got tired of looking at a white background. any opinions???
