Scientists: Radiation From Cellphones Are to Blame for Bee Deaths Global Warming Alert

news.independent.co.uk

Scientists claim radiation from handsets are to blame for mysterious 'colony collapse' of bees

It seems like the plot of a particularly far-fetched horror film. But some scientists suggest that our love of the mobile phone could cause massive food shortages, as the world's harvests fail.

They are putting forward the theory that radiation given off by mobile phones and other hi-tech gadgets is a possible answer to one of the more bizarre mysteries ever to happen in the natural world - the abrupt disappearance of the bees that pollinate crops. Late last week, some bee-keepers claimed that the phenomenon - which started in the US, then spread to continental Europe - was beginning to hit Britain as well.

I m not sure if this is from the lunatic fringe, but one thing is for sure, if cell phones and electronic gadgets are killing off bees could mean big problems when it comes to global warming. No pollination, equals no blossoms, equals no plants and or less food supplies.

Some people will always try to find ways to blame mankind for everything. BTW, i am not saying you shots, but those people who wrote and contributed to that article.

The magnetic field of the Earth has been weakening since 1845, and in recent years it has been weaking more dramatically.

Bees like many other insects and including many species of animals use the magnetic field of the Earth to navigate. Although it is not the only way that bees can navigate.

According to Karl von Frisch, who won the Nobel prize for his work in the 1940s on the navigational abilities of honeybees, experiments he conducted showed that bees use a polarized system, and a sun angle compass to navigate, but during cloudy days bees use the magnetic field of the Earth.

Now, since the Earth's magnetic field has been weakening, and has been doing so more dramatically recently, and since the sun's output has increased, the bees are getting lost.

Just like so many other species of animals are getting lost by diving into pavement thinking it is the ocean, etc, etc.

I don't buy the cellphone theory at all. Cell phones have been around for a long time now, and this whole bee phenomenon is just happening now. As they did with global climate change, the media is trying to blame this on human behavior without any solid evidence.

I understand what you are saying and just so you know no offense was taken.

Here we have one group alleging it is cell phones and a month or so later, we have accusations it is being done by power lines. Even this article points most of the flaws out, but one thing that always amazes me and perhaps I am going bonkers, but it always seems to originate in the UK then is written up by UK papers and then spreads to other parts of Europe who jump on their band wagon.

At times frankly, I think many of them are just trying to make a splash in the papers to get their names in print half of what they write or at least it seems that ways always turns out to be incorrect or at best seriously flawed in one way or another.

A Good past example would be the claim that original cell phones caused brain cancer which was proven false years ago.

I agree that cell phones is very unlikely the cause here but to say it's not our fault is a little naive imo. You all sound like you're all just getting defensive.
Oh no it's not my fault, I never do anything wrong. Nah it's not me pumping the atmosphere full of chemicals and pollutants. No not me with my super huge humming four wheel gas guzzling SUV.

Seems no one wants to take responsibility for anything anymore.

(or you are all loathed to give up your luxuries and useless toys)

The cell phone theory is more likely an attempt to cover up something some Humans did do. Either that or our atmosphere is more messed up than what we know or are being told.

But if it is cell phones I don't own one, so it's not my fault...

But let me ask you all this, if it turns out it is cell phones, would you stop using one?

So we ignore and dismiss the fact that cell phones have been around for quite a while and the bees dissapearance has been increasing only recently?

Do we dismiss the fact that the bees, alongside other species of animals, use the magnetic field of the Earth, and bees themselves get blinded when UV rays and other forms of radiation from the sun increase?... Which as a matter of fact both "natural phenomenon" have been changing dramatically and which do affect animal and plantlife on Earth.

I guess we should just forget all those facts and start committing seppuku, also known as harakiri in the western world, because some people "just have to blame everything on humans".....

Tell us Anok, should we all feel ashamed of "living" too?....

Perhaps many of us should follow the insane ideas of some of the more extreme environmentalists, and if a catastrophe of one form or another comes, we should just allow it run it's course "because there are too many people on the planet".....

You want to volunteer to be one of the first to go Anok?...

What produces the most anthropogenic CO2 are power plants. Half of the electricity in the U.S. is produced by coal. In developing countries such as China they use more coal plants, in other developed countries they use less.

Now....about vehicles...well sorry to tell you I need to have a truck, and i don't care whatever you want to claim but i live in the outskirts of a medium-small town, and without a truck, or some form of 4X4 me, and a lot of people around here wouldn't be able to move around....and much less in winter...and no, i am not going to live once again in a large metropolitan city, thanks but no thanks.

Perhaps i should try to use my superpowers and start flying around more often because Anok wants to blame people who use trucks and cars too much...

Let me see if I can fly now, brb.......... Let me see if i can concentrate.. i can do it... i can do it........... Errm...... nope, can't fly... going to have to keep using my truck...sorry...

You want to feel ashamed of living and having to use cars and trucks to be able to live? go ahead...

And if you want to, I can send you a video about Bushido, there is one section which covers seppuku, better known in the western world as harakiri... very informational on what to do if you feel too ashamed of living for whatever reason.

Really?... so is either something else humans did, or humans have messed up the atmosphere so much that those can be the only reasons according to Anok... no other possible reason....it's got to be humans.....wow...

Wait...wait...don't try to take the blame away from you now... you are using a computer, which uses electricity, half of which is being powered up by coal, which is the worse fuel source emittor of CO2...

Hey, let me ask you... if another article comes out claiming is all the powerlines which are causing all this problems...would you stop using electricity once and for all?....

Oh hey, give me your address so I can send you the Bushido cd.....

I don't buy this or the magnetic field theory. If it was the case that bees are getting lost or divebombing the concrete as one poster suggested then we would have bee corpses everywhere. Some of these sites that have disappearing bees are talking about millions of bees disappearing without a trace. The fact that there are no corpses sure seems to pont to a predator in my book.

They haven't found corpses of bees because the bees have gotten lost and are probably in small quantities all over the place.

If they are getting blinded and they can't use the magnetic field of the Earth to find their way back what makes you think they would all die in a big group all in one place when they are blinded and can't find their way?

It is possible there is another reason, but if it was some predator of some sort, then there would be sightings of such predators.

Cellphones may have been around for a while, but one little feature hasn't: BlueTooth.

Now don't get me wrong... I am quite apt with the technology as I manufacture products that use BlueTooth, so I'm certainly not bashing it.

But no way in Hell will you ever catch me with a near-microwave transmitter a few millimeters from my temporal lobe, or hanging out in my pocket just a few inches from the boys.

BlueTooth, WiFi, 2.4GHz phones, etc... other than the dotting of leaky microwave ovens across the globe, these frequencies have never before been present on the planet's surface at the amplitudes we generate them at. All the microwaves raining down on us from the stars don't even come close. Long range microwave communications dishes are very directional and mounted high above the ground.

I'm not saying there is a connection, just a potential correlation.

Could be, but the thing is that bees use two methods to navigate, one is they use the sun as a compass through a polarized system the bees have, the other is they use the magnetic field of the Earth. Something is affecting both systems the bees use to find their way, and i kind of doubt that cell phones are the cause.

Your article also mentions:

No one knows why it is happening. Theories involving mites, pesticides, global warming and GM crops have been proposed, but all have drawbacks.

German research has long shown that bees' behaviour changes near power lines.

Now a limited study at Landau University has found that bees refuse to return to their hives when mobile phones are placed nearby. Dr Jochen Kuhn, who carried it out, said this could provide a "hint" to a possible cause.

Doesn't sound too conclusive just yet.......Some other possibilities put forward here.....

Could it just be possible that its part of the evolutionary chain? Maybe this has happened before but never recorded or noticed. The stronger ones survive and carry on while the weaker die and cease to exist as a species. Like the Dodo bird.
