Yes, there is a good possibility that it could be. Did we not hear a while back on the news that our school buses were a target as well?

I remember back to the Columbine incident, there were many copy-cat incidents. Most of which weren't actual acts of violence, but there were ALOT of bomb threats, and other threats against schools. Even up here in Canada.

I was expecting this sort of behavior to come out of the Virgina Tech shootings.
However, we must remain vigilant. We can't allow even a single threat to be taken as anything less that serious, otherwise we'd be leaving our children open to further violence.
We shal just have to punish those who make false claims severely.

How did this kid get those guns though?
Was there any news on the tracing of serial numbers, or did they not even bother with that?

The serial numbers were filed off the pistols. These were legal weapons, Glock 9mm pistols which can be bought by anyone of age and without a criminal history.

The filing of the serial numbers on a gun purchased by him seemed strange to me at first but you know what...I think he had intentions on getting away with this and in case he had left a weapon behind he wanted to be untraceable. I think he was probably thinking he was going to kill some people and get away with it. Going by his blog I guess he realized he was caught (He was attempting to deny that it was him on his blog) and thats when he went out the second time and killed more and then turned the gun on himself.

I still can't get over the fact that not unlike 9-11 it took the authorities so much time in between the first and second strike to get off their collective azzes and actually do something about it.

Does anyone remember the black dude in New Orleans surrounded by like 20 cops that shot him multiple times and killed him and that was just for him brandishing a knife!!!! There was a video of this poor guy being shot by 20 guys. Something is wrong here.

Except, thats what they did here. That school should of went on lockdown as soon as the first shooting took place. Makes no since to me why it did not.

A warning should of been sent.

How hard is it for every school of all levels to have an alert siren to go off when something happens?

Update: 10 states

AUSTIN, Texas - Campus threats forced lock-downs and evacuations at universities, high schools and middle schools in at least 10 states on Tuesday, a day after a Virginia Tech student's shooting rampage killed 33 people.
Threats in Louisiana, Montana and Washington state directly mentioned the massacre in Virginia, while others were reports of suspicious activity in Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Dakota, South Dakota and Michigan. In Louisiana, parents picked up hundreds of students from Bogalusa's high school and middle school amid reports that a man had been arrested Tuesday morning for threatening a mass killing in a note that alluded to the murders at Virginia Tech. Schools Superintendent Jerry Payne said both schools were locked down and police arrested a 53-year-old man who allegedly made the threat in a note he gave to a student headed to the private Bowling Green School in Franklinton. Both towns are in southeastern Louisiana

Yes, why would he go through all this trouble and keep the receipt?

Why is it sometimes they are so slow, while other time's they move quickly? Must be the person in charge. Not making the right decision.

Are you talking about the man whom they found hiding in a park under a fallen tree?

Hi Shar
I don't really remember the circumstances but there was a video out on the net where all these cops had this guy who seemed practically lame totally surrounded and he was holding out a knife to the cops and all of a sudden they all started shooting him multiple times.

Look at this guy up here in NYC that was killed at his bachellor party and was getting married the next day. They shot him how many times? Here was this asian kid going around shooting through doors in the hopes of hitting something, kills people, goes home and has time to blog about it, then goes back to work again!!

Jeez I feel so much safer after this incident. They are too busy monitoring Average Joe Citizens personal phone calls to be bothering about a young kid who thinks he's a human version of a video game character from BattleField Vietnam.

I am no way protecting anyone here. However, when a man comes face to face with death, your nerves grabs you and takes over. You might not have time to think you just react. For instances when a gun was fired, the sound alone may have made other's just start shooting from their nerves alone. Or (adrenalin.) Shoot out of fear. However, by him just having a knife someone should of been able to just grabbed that out of his hand. It really comes down to how quick and smart is the thinker of the man, whose life is in danger.

Wow, I remember that poor bachelor. That was sad indeed. I don't know what went wrong there at all. Did they ever find out what these officers were thinking? What made them think their life was in so much danger?

The asian kid was on a campus with campus police, who, does not encounter these situations everyday. When it's your first time for something or even second time, you don't respond quickly. It's a matter of experience. How soon did they get the other authorities in there? That is the question. However, in my opinion they went way, way, way too slow on this one.

The campus should of went into lockdown immediately.

Personally, I believe all schools and campus should have very loud sirens that warn everyone something is wrong.

The Elementary school my kids go to had a bomb threat several weeks ago then within weeks of that the high school had a bomb threat.

I think the days are coming where schools will no longer be valid and students will get there lessons off the computer and hand in work back right through the net.

This is just another thing to keep people indoors and accounted for, no doubt.

This is just sad. For people to interupt kids and scare the crap out of them. People are so messed up. I'm starting to wondering if sometimes it's not a kid trying to get out of a test. However, you HAVE to take all threats serious, investigate each and everyone. Cause you can be sure that the time you don't is when the place blows up.

Our police of today is overwhelmed with this stupid threats. However, it looks like it's here to stay. Once something starts it rarely stops.

Now that I think of it, I feel more sad from all these school shootings than 9/11. In both cases, I don't know anyone who died personally, but I feel more sad in the Virginia Tech case. It's not about how many people who die, it's about the way these killings are carried out.

I feel 9/11 got too much media coverage than it should have. We're fighting the wrong enemy. Why are we focusing on the threat of Al'Queda and Iraq when we can't even protect the country from ourselves and bigger threats from within the country?

Granted, the killer was an immigrant, but he was americanized and he's been living here since he was a kid, so I would consider him an american.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm more afraid of an american walking into my workplace and starting a shooting, then a terrorist from another country.

I feel equally sad here. The people who died knew beforehand they were probably not going to make it.

I am sure they were extremely scared before death. Everyone thinking something: "I didn't say goodbye to _____", "
I love you ______"
"I didn't mean to have that fight with you"
"I'll never get to hold my baby again."
So many thoughts, so little time. To me it's sad.

I'm concerned about someone from my country as well as another country.

Add another one to the list, this one from a school in Missouri.

Threat Forces Ridgeway To Cancel Classes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A bomb threat forced school administrators in Ridgeway to cancel classes Wednesday, KMBC reported.

School officials said that they found the threat written on a bathroom wall, indicating a bomb would go off.

Bomb Threats are nothing new....I don't think anyone should panic over them. The beefed up security around this time is normal too.

I was a freshmen in Highschool when Columbine happened. The next day there were cops everywhere at the school. We received bomb threats on a regular basis, sometimes even three times a day. We had so many threats that the school even stopped evacuating us at one point.

I actually used to sit in class sometimes planning how I would get out if something did go down. Paying more attention to the kids whom I felt fit the profile.

Also, every year at around this time there was added security at my school. Between the anniversary of Columbine, marijuana day and hitler's birthday, I think schools are extra cautious around this time.

I do have this nagging feeling, however that somewhere there is going to be another shooting. I hope I am wrong.

The best thing people can do is to be aware of any suspicious activity and report things that just don't seem right. Keep your eyes open.

After reading his writings from another thread, I really believe that this kid was not so much depressed as he was severely delusional.

It would appear that he might have had a disassociative psychosis and more than likely suffered from auditory hallucinations. Which is probably why he didn't talk to anyone, he couldn't distinguish the delusional voices from the actual voices of the people around him. He likely had little insight to his condition.

And, considering that he willingly purchased a gun and ammunition, his hallucination was probably of a command nature.

Another bomb threat breaking now University of Minnesota shut down 7 buildings and cancelled class for the rest of the day.

I am hoping it is a hoax and I am disgusted by the actions of this "hopefully hoaxer" to create chaos in the aftermath of the VaTech tragedy.

It seems that Cho isn't the only twisted mind with no regard for others safety.

I guess in this sick society some think this is amusing.

This just in on FNC Rider university in NJ locked down, student arrested reportedly this student has a weapon.

Rider a mistake, the incident was at Lawrenceville Prep School, student arrested, school locked down and unconfirmed report of a weapon.
Weapon confirmed the kid had a pellet gun.

True, it is a very, very sick society. They need to stop. People needs to stop taking another person life.

We as parents go 18 19 years raising our kids preparing them. We never expect them to get killed by a murderer while in college. It makes me so mad.

Shane Void,

I don't really think people are panic. I do think we are trying to stay safe in this messed up world of ours today.

We received bomb threats on a regular basis, sometimes even three times a day. We had so many threats that the school even stopped evacuating us at one point.

I'm sorry about what you went through there. However, the school did very wrong here. I know you need school and it shouldn't be interupted cause that messes things up big time. But, to stop evacuating was not cool. It only takes one time to kill everyone.

I actually used to sit in class sometimes planning how I would get out if something did go down. Paying more attention to the kids whom I felt fit the profile.

Yeah, thats sad for the really shy or backwards kids. People will be looking at them and judging them. This could make this kid feel even worse. And he's probably 100% innocent.

Also, every year at around this time there was added security at my school. Between the anniversary of Columbine, marijuana day and hitler's birthday, I think schools are extra cautious around this time.

As they should be. We are learning how messed up people really are. Copy Cats every where.

Keep your eyes open.

Ususally, people sweat, nervous, short with people around them. Have an evil look in their eye.

We are learning he spent time in a hospital. Also he mailed photos of himself holding 2 guns, and a letter to NBC.

Was he on medicine? If so what kind? If not, why not? Was he taking it if he was?
