Not a good image to portray as a mod i would say...

Well his remark was rather insulting and condescending sarcasm.

Not a good way to welcome a relatively new member, especially not for a moderator of a message board.

But of course, I'm sure it's not Mirthful's intentions to do this all the time.

Perhaps a review of ATS's motto is in order... That would be "Deny Ignorance" for those unfamiliar with the concept.

I would think it suffices to say that when confronted with a "mystery" it is more appropriate to investigate, research, and make every effort to fulfill the precept of "due diligence." Attributing the unknown casually to some "occult" organization out of pure ignorance (not to mention coupled with a hemisphere’s worth of erroneous coordinates) is far from commendable.

I would imagine a more open-minded approach to discerning such an enigma would benefit all.

I think if you walked into the President's office and gave him your opinion on what should be done about say ... anything...they'd give you the same remark Mirthful Me gave...even a worse one.

The fact is it gets tiresome when people don't get their facts right and something as basic as coordinates...or in this case...photo analysis.

I know nothing of the area...but back-woods California; pagodas everywhere...

I just thought "Buddhist Temple" someone confirmed this...kudos to them.

But all this could be saved in time...if the original poster would do that critical thinking first.

It can be only one thing, what it actually is... Odiyan Buddhist Retreat Center.

This is the second post that seems to ignore the the clear proof of what the buildings and structures are.

I'm quite perplexed.

You need to critically analyze something when you think it is true. Try to rule out all possibilities. Even when I first seen it I thought that there was a possibility that it was a Buddist temple or monastary. Buddhism is very big in California and they like to build out in the middle of nowhere because of the peace and quiete and being able to be closer to nature.

Go above Google's own headquarters with Google maps / earth and you'll see a nice maconic design in their main building just meters from Googleplex.

"Do no evil" anyone ?

The 1st Academy Awards were presented at a banquet dinner at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.

Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood then hosted the awards from 1944 to 1946, followed by the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles from 1947 to 1948. The 21st Academy Awards in 1949 were held at the Academy Award Theater at the Academy's then-headquarters on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood.[35]

From 1950 to 1960, the awards were presented at Hollywood's Pantages Theater. The Oscars then moved to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, California in 1961. By 1969, the Academy decided to move the ceremonies back to Los Angeles, this time at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in the Los Angeles Music Center.

In 2002, Hollywood's Kodak Theater became the first permanent home of the awards. It is connected to the Hollywood & Highland Center, which contains 640,000 square feet (59,000 m²) of space including retail, restaurants, nightclubs, other establishments and a six-screen cinema.

this reminds me of the temple of Luxor in Egypt, and from the cardinally aligned golden domes around the main obelisk I would guess that this shrine employs the same esoteric energy utilization, whereby crystals in the four main directions distill the chi of nature and channel it into the center where the main chrystal amplifies it such that the central obelisk can overcome the force of gravity and lift off into space.
