rumour has it that scientists are developing a new kind of gun,the gun will shoot tiny micro pieces of metal that will contain poison that will shut the whole body in a matter of seconds,one of the best advantages is it is completely silent and the gun cannot jam .

It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure what to think of a weapon that uses poisoned ammunition. That might be great for a 'hit man' or an assassin, but it would be very dangerous for troops in the field. Don't slip while you're loading or unloading your weapon, Private!

I'm also *very* skeptical when someone tells me that a weapons will not / cannot jam...even if it was the ghost of John Moses Browning. If it's got moving parts, eventually, it will jam.

More to the point, is there a toxin that is powerful enough to kill you in a second? From such a small ammount?

Not any that I know of, but a fair few would kill you in a matter of minutes, maybe seconds if the dosage is enough. Getting the large enough dosage would be the problem.

Correct, just spent the last half hour researching posions... Most are deadly after say 6 - 10 minutes, some have symptoms visable much sooner. Even if you gave a larger does, there is apoint where the bodys receptors are saturated with the posion and more cant get in... Anyway, its cheaper and easier and quicker to kill with a bullet

To some extent such a weapon has already been developed and was deployed to assassinate Geogie Markov in 1978, London. An umbrella was jabbed against the leg of this Bulgarian dissident and he later died. The post mortem found a tiny 1.5mm diameter metal sphere which had contained ricin poison.

If anything, this event demontrated the basics.

Its true that posion has been used many a time for assassination, but shooting it into them in a fashion like this is not really practical, kinda obvious... Esp when genetically modified bugs etc are jsut around the corner that can be targeted to your DNA.

I think Botulinum or its original name, sausage poison, has to be injested to be deadly

I don't know about a non-jamming, totally silent gun which can instantly neutralize a target, but I do know that the Air Force has created (and is in the processof testing) a gun which is designed to force its targets to run away. This may already have been posted and discussed, but I am going to post about it regardlessly. This gun uses UV rays (I believe), and is completely no-lethal. When fired, the target feels as if they are on fire, causing them to flee in both fear and pain. This gun has proven highly effective in tests, with all test subjects fleeing in (I believe) less than 6 seconds. Only when the subject was wearing wet clothing, did it cause (slight) 1st degree burns (that is, if 1st degree is the least serious.) This gun has the potential to cause mass chaos and riots to be broken up very quickly, in a matter of seconds even. The weapon has not yet been approved for official military or civilian use, but when it is, I believe that we could all be in a position of great vulnerability. I mean, imagine if someone decided that they wanted to take control of the country in a complete and total manner similar to the despots of old (Bush?). With a weapon like this, they could put down all revolts, militias, or coups who would attempt to displace this cruel and vicious (possible) dictator of the future. This weapon would cause all enemies of the weapon-holder to flee from the battle almost instantly. Imagine what would happen if one side of a war or revolution was unable to fight back, simply turning and running away before the fight even began.

If you have friendly fire you shoot someone in the leg it can probably be fixed but with a poisen bullet that kills in seconds you can't fix that can you. It doesn't matter where you hit em.

If your primary rifle is based on a small pin or pellet delivering poison, you better hope nobody comes up with an antidote. Standard issue syringes?

Would be fine for criminal or assassins though.

Here's a good one, can this thing penetrate body armor? I mean it fires small metal projectiles you said. Of and what's the range of this gun estimated around? Does it have recoil? How fast is it rumored to shoot?
