AREA-51 extra landing site?

I was looking at AREA-51 with Google Earth and I found this. In a way it almost looks like two extra runways, but I think that the terrain is to bad to be able to land or take of in a plane. So is there someone who knows what it is?

I believe that what you are looking at is an auxiliery airfield that was oeprated at Groom Lake before 1955 when the CIA/Lockheed decided to build a secret base there. There used to be a gunnery target on the lake bed.

Right, gfad. That is all that is left of Nellis Auxilary Airfield #1. These are the unpaved runways that Col. Ozzie Ritland remembered when discussing possible U-2 test sites with Dick Bissell and Kelly Johnson. A trip to Groom Lake in April 1955 revealed that the old airstrip was unusable, but the lakebed was perfect (except for all the debris from WWII gunnery training that littered its surface).
