When I get out of high school, after I goto college, I want to become a movie writer/director. I have a movie trilogy written, but I doubt I will produce it till I am more experienced. What are some movies that need to be completely remade, or just done the right way with better graphics and techniques?

Bow to me...I am your Movie God!

2010.

2001 is a classic but 2010 could use some work.

Actually both could use some work....and there`s also a third part to the series, although I dont think I ever read the book. Thanks for the suggestion...I`ll keep that in mind.

More suggestions please! :bnghd:

That's hard. My favorites are pretty f'ing perfect.

So you want gems in the rough? Good angle.

Who knew "MANHUNTER" would become SILENCE OF THE LAMBS?

I think a MIAMI VICE movie set in the 80's based off the TV show would kick azz. That or a messed up Movie version of Dukes of Hazard where they are less than 'good ol boys' Think evil. Bo Duke running methamphetimines and hillbilly heroin.

Here's a winner. Remake HARVEY (starring Jimmy Stewart) with Tom Hanks.

Also theres a few overlooked 70's flicks that could be redone. MOTHERLODE with Charlton Heston has potental.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS... already near perfect, but update...why not?

If you like comedies...do YELLOWBEARD. Pirates are "in" again.

Remake Rona Jaffe's Dungeons and Dragons (Tom Hanks) with a DOOM theme. Some Columbine action.

There's your winner.

I thought it became "Red Dragon", plus, that doesn't really count as a remake because it was a book.

It did, you're right. But the self rip off factor was already present. Silence (the book) was more of a Manhunter re-write than anything.

Blind girl = Nightvision goggles, etc. Making the movie RD (to me) was more like remaking Manhunter for the THIRD time!

Sorry buddy. Cutting you off.

Tell us your 'style' or interests. Most admired movies? Otherwise we might be thinking in the wrong direction.

At LEAST offer a Special Contributing Producer credit for any idea you use.

Here's some picks off the top of my mask:

* The Magus
* Logan's Run
* Thunderbirds (done properly not the crap Hollywood is about to put out)
* The Other Side Of The Sun
* Duel
* Fear And Desire (remaking Kubrick's unreleased flick)
* King Kong (Peter Jackson's next unless something else gets in the way)
* a number of cheesy 70s horror flicks including Wicker Man, Village Of The Damned, Trilogy Of Terror
* Burn!

Oh yeah... maybe that would help, lol.

Well I like sci-fi, and fantasy, I also like Godzilla and other large monsters. And Also, Religious things like Stigmata, I`ll eat them up any day of the week.

:bash:

We need a new Logan's Run.

Also, a movie should be made about the short story: THE LOTTERY...

Not a remake, but I'd love to see a Love and Rockets tale about Jack Parsons (elements from NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab to Crowley's Golden Dawn)

Stigmata was inspired. Have you seen the Sci-Fi original REVELATION? It was taken straight off ATS threads.

Go back and edit it. Or maybe they did already.

I think I saw that. Makes it hard to read.

They are remaking "Logans Run" and Thunder birds. As soon as I find the sites, I'll post links.

Thunderbirds is already remade as live action, no supermarionation. It really is crap.

I think that Blyth Spirit was a great film , I'm pretty sure that it hasn't been remade.
I always loved that film. I haven't seen it in years.
Mind you I think that it's probably fine as it is .

If it ain't broke then don't fix it.
