Guns at home equal higher suicide risk: study

www.thanhniennews.com

Twice as many people committed suicide in the 15 states with the highest levels of household gun ownership, compared with the six states with the lowest levels, even though the population in all the states was about the same, the researchers found.

"We found that where there are more guns, there are more suicides," said Matthew Miller of the Harvard School of Public Health, who led the study.

While just 5 percent of all suicide attempts involve a gun, the person succeeds in killing himself or herself 90 percent of the time.

I believe that aside from gun, there are many ways to commit suicide. So when you have gun, would it be easier to commit suicide?

I am not sure about this. Maybe pulling the trigger is easier than doing other ways to commit suicide.

weather this is a valid study or just another anti gun shuffle the facts paper is sort of unimportant, it your life and if and when you choose to end it is your choice gun, drugs, police, cars, all sorts of ways are available to you. it's kinda funny that the same people who are anti gun are pro assisted suicide. liberals go figure.

This is clearly anti-gun propaganda which distort the presentation of the statistics.

While just 5 percent of all suicide attempts involve a gun, the person succeeds in killing himself or herself 90 percent of the time.

People use drugs to attempt suicide in 75 percent of cases, but actually die less than 3 percent of the time, the researchers said, citing other surveys.

They are looking at successful suicides. Your chances of killing yourself goes up if you use a bullet over a pill. I'm sure the number of attempted suicides is no different.

Well thanks for that little tidbit Captain Obvious...

This just in! People with illegal drugs in their house are 73.6% more likely to overdose than houses without the illegal drugs. This "study" could be done with anything...

Yet more liberal propaganda.
