every now and then, especially about a month ago, ill be going about my normal business and time will feel like its slowing down or getting bogged down. Everything is at normal speed because i can hear convos that are taking place and things are happening at a regular pace, but it feels like everything around me is getting thicker, almost heavy. And it feels like it takes more effort to move through this. Yet it only happens in patches for around 30 seconds at the most, then everything goes back to normal.

does anyone else experience this or thinks they know what it is? is it just a physical thing? something to do with me?

Hi~ it is interesting~ time slows down, thing could be heavier~
if it happens on Earth~ there must be other ppl feel the same~
otherwise~ do you agree this happen could be from your body with your own...? lets say the reaction getting slow? Blood can not run smoothly to your arms? well~ before I have tried to put me hands up when i wake up in the morning~ I feel my arm so heavry~ coz my hand got pressured by my body weight....May be it could be the same feeling???

its perfectly plausible that circulation could be the case, although there are no heavy feelings in my limbs or anything, just everything around me, like walking in a pool but not as strong. it also only lasts for a very short period of time, like i was walking into my garage and about halfway into it i got that feeling, and then came out of it in 10 seconds or so.

This sounds like it could be something neurological.

Go see your Doctor!

Have others around you experienced this time distortion?

no, all the occurances i have been by myself or not near other people. It hasnt happened that much lately, but there was a period where it would happen more frequently, and then slowly the events happened farther apart. it would never happen more than once in a day, and there was usually a few days between each occurance too. it would come and go, similar to the way deja vu comes out of nowhere and dissipates.

I think I know what you're talking about, I think I get the same, except at the same time it feels as though everything is exagerated(sp?) to the max and I try to stay calm during these times, because when I was younger, the first time I experienced this, I joined in I guess. It's not the best feeling in the world, I can't really explain it anyway.

Hmm, I guess I feel zoned out, and everything I see at the time kind of looks as though I'm viewing it from far away even if I'm sitting right next to it. And when time feels 'thick and slow' like you said, I'd hear shouting in my head, along with the zoning out and the first experience I said.

Kappo, the feelings you describe also sound like you could have a neurological problem. Please see a physician.

Problems left unattended may worsen and become permanent, where as with proper treatment, they may be alleviated.

I'm not saying that you are not experiencing time distortions but check out that it's not caused by something physical first.

Good luck!

But I've been experiencing this since I was 6 AND I hardly ever feel it.

BOTH of you ... what you have described are in my psychology books. You really should get checked out. Having it happen once in a while is most likely no big deal. But having it happen frequently, or like clockwork could be.

Always get the physical checked out before looking at the paranormal for answers.

BTW .. I have felt that 'exaggeration' thing and the thing like someone else is running things and I'm along for the ride. For me it only lasts for about 5-10 seconds and it is a VERY RARE happening. But for you guys .... go get checked. Really.

I've heard of a normal condition (don't know what it is called), where for athletes, time feels like it slows down for them when they are very focused. Like batting in baseball.

Yes, you're talking about Flow.

Very good book BTW- Flow - The Psychology of Optimal Experience.

And I don't think this is what the OP is experiencing.

It's not regular, only lasts like a minute when it does happen.

Well at least go to your school nurse and tell her about it.
I don't think your folks would think you are psycho if you would phrase it in the right terms. Like dizzyness, light headed, etc.

Don't minimize this. It is probably nothing, might be related to blood sugar levels or something completely unrelated to brain function but at least talk to a health professional. Please

Ok, when I got the nightmarish dream which set it all off, I told mum, as I was 6 and frightened, so she already knows.

well i dont know about the other effects that kappo is saying, like hearing shouting and whatnot, that sounds pretty off. The only thing i get is like a perception and a feeling that things are slower, and then they return to normal. and i havent gotten it in at least 2 months, so maybe it was something goin on inside me chemically, but i still couldnt pinpoint any reason why i would feel that way.

Head doctors for the most part are a worthless breed. All the ones that I know personally have screwed up families and are completely wacked themselves.

Psychology for the most part is joke and then thinking they can help people or even remotely understand the complexities of the human mind, spirit, etc is arrogant. I have to laugh whenever they render a decision or a diagnosis, because the majority of the time they are coming to conclusions based on theories.

So yes you can get yourself checked out, but for the most part shrinks are snake oil salesmen, with a license and credentials.

very true i once had "ritalin" for my attention problems and i started to feel really out of tune like a whole bunch of my senses were turned off and i just stopped taking it , and i started meditation and i can probably concentrate better than most people and my intuition is even more better.

about he bullet-time like feeling. when it happens go with the flow and you can feel something "click" and probably if you can really get the feel of it you can always harness this "skill" and btw you should get a blood sugar test it also could be low blood pressure anyway good luck .
if you dont know how to meditate remeber there are very few instructions to meditate out there most of them are how to "concentrate" meditating is something different passive awareness of everything now and here being inside your body feeling the ether be absolutely "now" and accept and if you feel a certain peace coming forth let it free and you will help the world by letting this energy pour through you and helping other people they will feel a different peace around you if you get it right.

btw when i say "few" instructions i mean there are sources which teach about "real meditation" most of the meditations you find on the internet are either concentration exercises( om mani padme hum, sa ta na ma /watching flame/ etc etc) or visualisations (visualize a healing light that also fixes your carburator : P)

start with body awareness breathing then emotions and everything that pops in to your head just look athem and they will crumble away and youll be cleaning out your subconcious/karma in no time
