Probably the original gamers.

Don't you think?

When playing total domination who else is there to play the game?

By letting you fool yourself into thinking that you are free they are the ones who trully remain free.

Ironic isn't it?

Who stands to gain the most by promoting capitalism?

So now you can be oppressed for speaking out against the president? Is that not leaning towards what Saddam Hussein and Hitler were criticised for?

it states that a clerk working at the airport told him that people that attend peace marches are often added to the list

I saw that. That's plain stupid. A clerk at an airport isn't going to know why people are put on a terrorist watch list. The clerk is just making stupid assumptions without any knowledge at all of the situation.

The Feds in DC aren't going to be discussing with airport clerks why they put people on the list.

Ive also wondered wether ats would be watched, and certain members on the list.

I HIGHLY doubt it.

This has come up many times. Every few months someone starts a thread 'ATS has been infiltrated'. If anything, 'they' probably read this site during their lunch hour and laugh.

Actually whats funny is that I just wrote a paper for history 101 titled : "Homeland Security & Empires"

I emailed it to myself through yahoo and wonder if it has been read seeing as it refers to Homeland Security and DARPA

oh well...

can anyone 'source' the law saying it is illegal to say you are going to kill the president? is it in the PATRIOT ACT?

stay cool

Unless your paper was very technical I don't see where DARPA would be interested

I could make an interesting read for people around hear though. I you want to consider working out a way to post it.

I myself have tread the fringe of criticizing the President on occasion so I wonder if I'm on the list
ATS is a smorgasbord of Bush criticism, so are pages of ATS scanned for trouble makers by the government??

[edit on 9-4-2007 by the_sentinal]

If this is the case 70% of America is on that list Considering G.B. Has only a 30% approval Rating and I think there just being modest. I think its more like 10%

Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin, Hitler, the intellectuals are always one of the first targets in any genocidal purge. Whatever happened to the obviously disadvantaged street thugs who were called terrorists about a year ago, under what suspiciously looked like entrapment. Princeton won't be backing them up. Princeton probably won't be backing up their troublesome professors with much enthusiasm for very long.

Bring back due process for all and discard torture or forever hold your peace.
It's really odd how torture can now be reinstated as a legitimate aspect of the legal process. Considering the vast literary history of witch confessions that reveal the sexually perverted and superstitious quality of their inquisitors to such an obvious extent that it exonerates their victims.

You'll pretty much say anything once you're on the rack.

Holy Moley, I took that guy's Constitutional Interpretation course!

Prof. Murphy is as much a terrorist as your grandmother. He's one of the best Constitutional scholars in the US, but a tough grader.

I find it amazing and chilling they'd dare put him on the TWL--but then they also put Ted Kennedy on it too.

He was targeted because of his position as a Constitutional authority, They are making ans example of him. Because after all, the next controlled demolition is the Constitution.

We are sinking fast.

I am curious if there are others who have been put on the list for their opinions. I haven't heard many if any cases of that. Has anyone here?

Does any one know how to find and view the watch list? Or how to find out if you or any one by name is on the watch list?
That would be a good place for everyone hear to start.

There is no way for the average person to view the watch list. The only two entities that can see it are the government and the airlines.

The only way you can find out if your name is on the list is to try to fly and find out you cant.

You could write a letter to ask why you are on the list, but they'll only tell you that they can't tell you due to "national security concerns".

Are there stories of people who have experienced that?

I guess my point is that I haven't heard of this happening on a wide-spread basis, so I am trying to find other incidents.

For all of the debunkers of the 911 'conspiracy' theories and other ones leading up to the Patriot Acts, is this a smoking gun????

Seriously. Where are we headed? Is this where the debunkers want us to go? I'm not saying that we need to always think the worst of our leadership but we should ALWAYS have the right to question them. It's what we have paid for with blood and taxes. They don't die in wars, the citizens of this country die. It should be the citizens that have ALL of the rights while the government is limited on what they are allowed to do.

The defense of 'national security' should be absolutely abolished. No one should be above the laws of this nation. Not even the lawmakers.

If this doesn't scare you then I don't know where you sit. Either you are with the American citizens and the constitution or you are with the police state that is quickly becoming a reality.

HOW DARE THIS MAN QUESTION THE GOVERNMENT AND CRITICIZE THE LEAST POoPULAR PRESIDENT FOR THE LAST FEW GENERATIONS!!!

Have you read the Patriot Act(s)? If you have then you understand that some of the articles in there state that people protesting in the name of the constitution can be considered as terrorists. That people who commit ANY criminal act at the federal or state level can be considered a terrorist.

That means if you J-Walk and the officer is having a bad day you can end up on the list my friend. Spit on the sidewalk. Drop a cigarette butt. Have a bottle of pain killers that you got from your sister (controlled substance that can be used against people in a 'terrorist' act).

Dude, you need to wake up. The 'authorities' can now label virtually anyone that they want as a terrorist. What does it mean if you end up on the list? It means that your rights are null and void. That means that you and your property can be searched without probable cause or a warrant.

Can you truly not see this? Anyone can be labeled as a terrorist and anyone can then be treated as such. And if the media shows your mistreatment on the air they will simply say "the police arrested this terror suspect" and the country will swallow the lies that they are being told and not do anything about it. Will you receive a fair trial?
Well, if you believe that then I fear you are in for a nasty surprise sometime in your life.

The 'authorities' can now label ...

Read my post again. I said that an AIRPORT CLERK isn't going to know squat. He/she isn't in a position to know WHY people are put on the watch list. Aiprot clerks are NOT federal agents. The clerk was just running off at the mouth.

Can you truly not see this?

Get some glasses bud ... I didn't say 'authorities' ... I said 'airport clerk'.

then I fear you are in for

and I fear that you are in for a surprise when you re-read my post.

18 U.S.C. § 871

It's not from the Patriot Act. My research shows that it is from approximately 1994. But that may be just the most recent update.

Can't you sue the goverment for putting you on the terrorist watch list if you have'nt actualy carried out any acts of terrorism?

We are all supposed to be entitled to freedom of speech (supposedly) and if they put you on a list that associates you with terrorism, just for voicing your opinion, then is'nt that slander or deformation of character or simialr?

If a celeb gets called gay, they take the paper who said it to court. Why not tale the government to court if you're not a terrorist but are called one?

CX.

Libel requires that you have damaging information that is untrue released into the public. The government doesn't release this list, and they get some latitude because they are trusted with law enforcement powers. Therefore I don't think that would work. But IMO there should be a mechanism whereby there is judicial review of someone's place on a watch list
