al-Sadr calls for attacks on U.S. troops

news.yahoo.com

BAGHDAD - The renegade cleric Muqtada al-Sadr urged Iraqi forces to stop cooperating with the United States and told his guerrilla fighters to concentrate their attacks on American troops rather than Iraqis, according to a statement issued Sunday.
The statement, stamped with al-Sadr's official seal, was distributed in the Shiite holy city of Najaf on Sunday — a day before a large demonstration there, called for by al-Sadr, to mark the fourth anniversary of the fall of Baghdad.

All we need now is more trouble. This war has not gone the way we have wanted since the beginning, so I guess this should come as no surprise.

That could spell trouble for all foreign forces there. This guy commands a lot of authority with Shiites. Hope he's dug a deep hole to hide in after making that kind of statement.

Al-Sadr is an Iranian puppet. He was one of the people that returned to Iraq from Iran after we invavded. He is the Shiite quivalent of John Hagee. He spouts all kind of apocalyptic crap. Claims we invaded Iraq to stop the coming of the Messiah. The last time we had issues with him was in 2004 and Grand Ayatollah Sistani negotiated a cease fire. Al Sadr became involved in politics. He should of been placed in Jail. He was or is the main supporter of the current Iraqi President.

My conclusions are that this could be temporary. The Shiites have too much influence. Or it might not be temporary and we have decided to tell Iran and Al Sadr to both go to hell. This could blow up or be nothing.
