It doesn't matter what people think, whether it is Christian, Buddhism, Islam, Hindu. I think that question is a bit loaded and can be answered positively or negatively so why even go there?

Once a person answers that question they can be judged on whatever answer they give.

It is all about what you believe.

Yea, that's right.

I started the thread because I've heard some people (both here and in 'the real world') saying things that they think Christians believe but which is so wide of the truth that it's laughable. I can't actually think of any at the moment though because they're so off the wall.

No, I can actually. I've heard some people give a quote like 'neither a borrower nor a lender be' or 'uneasy lies the head that wears a crown' and think they're from the Bible, when they're really from Shakespeare! (Hamlet & Henry IV Part 2 respectively).

To tell the truth I really dont care what christians or any other religionites believe as I find that even they cant make up their collective minds on what their religion believes. And if they cant agree why should I take anything, anyone of them, says as truth or anything close to it.

I think they just want to believe!

I dont care about what the religion says even christain or what a preacher in that religions says. The only thing I read about laws is the Bible what the Bible says is the laws. Other than that when I see a person of God I will listen to what they say, if spiritful its spiritful if its evil its evil. Are far what I believe I believe in god and Jesus, Jesus is the Son of God, he not god. i believe in judge day and punishment for our sins. I believe Jesus is the door way to God. That when you pray you pray to God throw the power of Jesus. I believe that life after death will be with the holy family.

You sound like a Catholic, because some of what you said is Catholic doctrine (not knocking all of it of course).

Anyway, if you read through the Gospels and apply the things Jesus said and did in the context of the Jewish culture of 2000 years ago (instead of our modern culture) then you can see that he was telling them that he was God. For example in Mark 2:5-7:

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, "Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"

To the Jews to say that you were God was the worst crime of blasphemy, which according to Websters dictionary one definition is 'the act of claiming the attributes of deity.' So either Jesus was taking a big risk or he was saying that he really was God.

No where does it say that Jesus is god in the Gospels, what the bible says is a matter of opinion. Like the scripure you wrote. Were does it Say jesus is God???Not it says Jesus forgave sins. now your asking the same that the jew says. Who else can forgive sins but God. Well if where smart the bible says that God gave ALL POWER TO JESUS. So that Jesus can forgive sin. But nowhere in that scripure does it say jesus is god.

If you read john when Jesus dies. He says (My God My God why hve you(God in heaven) Forsaken me (Jesus on earth). Not only does Jesus call God his own God, but he feels that God presents is away from him.

At the end of revelations chapter 4-5 God sits on a throne holding the scroll of seven seals. ( God is not just a spirit he has a body, God cannot sit on a throne, or hold a scroll if he a spirit) Jesus comes and takes the scroll out of god HANDS. Showing tht God and Jesus got their own body.

In all the gospels Jesus is seen praying to God. Not himself.
not only that Jesus is seen calling God his own father. He not talking about himself.

A disciple came to Jesus and ask when is Jesus coming. Jesus told him not him(Jesus, or son of man know the timeing of jesus coming ONLY GOD KNOWING THE TIMEING OF MY COMING. Now if Jesus was God he would know when his own coming is.

Like I said the son cannot be the father if he is the father.

So you don't believe in the trinity then? Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Because if Jesus wasn't God then his death on the cross is meaningless.

But they dont pray at night or even help the poor...

That's quite a broad assumption there. People of faith actually donate 3.5x more to the poor than atheists/agnostics. Furthermore, what do you call Christian ministries that travel to developing countries spreading the word and building churches? What do you call the "Christian Children's Fund" that has provided over $2.5billion to developing countries for vocational training, literacy training, food distribution, educational programs, early childhood development, health and immunization programs, nutritional programs, water and sanitation development, and emergency relief in both man-made and natural disasters?

Of course there are christian that have works and are saved for their beliefs. All my point was saying is, not everyone will be saved because whats really in side of them. The bible says it (some will be saved and some wont be saved) and ( the devil go to church)

Some people can work all they want, but unless they really believe in God and Jesus (like when you pray your talking to God throw the power of Jesus). Some will go to church and will be saved for there belief and their works for God. Some fakes God can see, and wont be saved because of there true self. (The devil go to church) unforitly alot of bad men are preachers(raps and child malesters, gays) and they devils in them. Thets why you cant listen to everyone in the church.

I dont believe in trinity cuz the bible dont talk about it. yes there are some scripures that would lead you to believe in it. But the fact are that there is scripure and words out of Jesus's mouths to support other wise.

The trinity belief ( God the spirity, God Jesus, God the Holy Ghost.) You will never seen this words in the Bible together.

Ok lets start witht the first one GOD THE SPIRITY- With scritpure ill show God has a Body and not just a spirity.
(Revelations chapter 4-5 - God sit on a throne holding the scroll of seven seals-[God cant not sit or hold a scroll in his right hand if he does not have a body.- Jesus comes and takes that scroll out of God's hands.- Showing that God and Jesus are SOMEWHAT seprate.)

GOD JESUS
If Jesus was God why would he pray to himself. He didnt. He was praying to God in heaven. Second many times through out the gospels Jesus said father. Calling God his own Father. He would'nt do this if he was God. Plus at the end of John of the gospels Jesus says (My God my God why have you (God in Heaven) forsaken me (Jesus on earth) Not only does Jesus call God his own father, he feels God presents away from him. And other one is when a disciple ask Jesus when is his next coming jesus told him (nor him, or son of man know the timeing of his coming. Only God knew) There for if God only knows and Jesus was God he would know. But he says he does not know.

God the spirit

I dont have much scripure on this one. But the fact is that the spirit is From God and is apart of Jesus. So its not really God but his presents if you will.

And you said if he was'nt God that his sacific would be infane. No it was we all might be child of God. But Jesus is a pure seed of God like his own offspring. Jesus was much more special than and other human on earth.Because of that Jesus is the perfect manifestion of God like a twin. So in all jesus is one with God cuz he is like a exate replaca of God. when you see him you see God. But yet Jesus is not God. with God Jesus could do nothing. You might woulder why jesus could forgive sin, well it says it in the gospels God gave jesus all power to do anything.

The fact is this The son can not be a son if he is the father.
