Bush pokes fun at himself

www.smh.com.au

Tell us, Mr. President, how have things changed since the last broadcasters' dinner?

"A year ago my approval rating was in the thirties, my nominee for the Supreme Court had just withdrawn, and my vice-president had shot someone," President Bush said Wednesday night during the annual gathering.

"Ah," he said, "those were the good ol' days."

I had a good chuckle when I read the article. It is a good thing that Bush and co can laugh at themselves. So put aside partisan considerations for a moment and enjoy what is on offer.

I listened to his monologue yesterday and it was halarious!

"I will not be a lame duck president... unless Cheney shoots me in the leg."

This is one of the things that draw some people to him. He is able to see, although not good at admitting, his faults. I suspect that he, as many of the rest of us, will be glad when his presidency is over. I am only old enough to remember back to Reagan's presidency, but I will say that of the four president's I can remember..Reagan,Bush Sr, Clinton and Bush Jr. this one has been riddled with problems. Although Clinton's presidency was no ride in the park, I don't think it was quite as tumultuous as Bush's has been.
