Iran: Britain must admit navy trespassed

news.yahoo.com

TEHRAN, Iran -
Iran's foreign minister said Wednesday that Britain must admit that its 15 sailors and marines entered Iranian waters in order to resolve a standoff over their capture by Iranian authorities.

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki's announcement came on a day of escalating tensions, highlighted by an Iranian video of the detained Britons that showed the only woman captive saying her group had "trespassed" in Iranian waters. Britain angrily denounced the video as unacceptable and froze most dealings with the mideast nation.

Well, It looks like Iran has decided to hold the hostages indefinitely. The British are never going to admit that, not now anyway. They already published their proof. Proof that shows the Iranians were in Iraqi waters. What is going to happen next? Has Iran decided war is its only option?

What happens now? Both sides seem to have made their cases clear. They both think they are right and seem to have both hit a brick wall in negotiations.

British: They want the sailors back, sailors were in Iraqi waters, Iran had no right to take them. They even showed proof.

Iran: Has the hostages , saw British proof but still they won't yield. They want the British government to admit they are fools, after they published proof.

I don't think that is ever going to happen. I really am interested in all your thoughts. How rapidly are things going to unfold now? What else is there left that the British can do diplomatically? The Iranians have now even, taken back what they said earlier today and are now saying that the female sailor will not be released by tomorrow. They are now saying again, that they will release her as soon as possible. Something is afoot, it seems. What are your opinions?

This is getting a little crazy.

I think if the means are there we will see an special forces recovery mission sooner than later.

Where we go from there is anyones guess.

Hopefully this might be one last show of strength from Iran, but my gut instinct says otherwise.

I see your Defcon 3 Iran, and raise you defcon 2............

I wonder if the doomsday clock has a snooze function?

I bet it does have a snooze button, but you can only hit it twice...or well we all know what will happen...

Iran realizes that if they let the female go, she will say that she was force to lie about trespassing. Now they decided to only let them go only if Britain admit they trespassed. If Britain admits to it, then that will destroy all credibility to Britain and Iran wins.

Britain will not admit to something it didn't do, especially since we have presented our case to the international community.

Iran is just making things worse for themselves.
