Endangered Species Act Under Attack by the Bush Admin.

“The draft regulations slash the Endangered Species Act from head to toe,” said Kieran Suckling, policy director of the Center for Biological Diversity. “They undermine every aspect of law. Recovery, listing, preventing extinction, critical habitat, federal oversight, habitat conservation plans – all of it is gutted. It is the worst attack on the Endangered Species Act in the past 35 years.”

With the debate raging on GW and our affects on it, another attack on our environment is under way. The protection of endangered species will take a back seat to profit making and industry if this goes through. Sadly, this is being done on the down low as if the public was made fully aware of this, there would be a huge outcry. Many species are still in existence today due to the Endangered Species Act, it would be a shame if that were reversed as the number of extinct species would rapidly grow.
