Relax. No we're not.

What thread was it that initiated this alert?

It may have been one of the images or avatars... which wouldn't be the first time a member included an image that popped up an alert like that.

This is an isolated incident that seems to of warranted a quick response from the Overlord. Seems, to me, that he is going to quickly rectify any issues that have been happening, as soon as he understands what is causing the problem. Making accusations that ATS has some "ulterior" motif, or we are "phishing" is certainly uncalled for. I think if this were to pop up on my screen, I would take a long hard look at my end of things before pointing at this community. Then if I still could not resolve the issue, I would get in to direct contact with the Administration to try to sort it out.

I don't think my bank account could pay the bills around here for much more than 30-40 seconds.

Rest easy mate. I don't think Above Top Secret is trying to take your money.

I would also suggest to quit using IE. As secure as it says it is, it still does things in the background without your knowledge or input. I switched to firefox a couple years ago after using avant for many years. With the implementation of IE7 i thought i would go back and try it out to see just how well they had made it. After one week my adaware pro had gone from finding maybe 10 little cookies to 8 spywares, 15 adwares and over 1000 non-solicited cookies. Noogies to IE.

As always these are just my opinions and observations, do with them what you will.

I happen to like the ATS Crew but it is confusing that when I clicked on any topic even my own that it came up. My computer is constantly being monitored by many safety programs. I run full scans every day. I also flush out with washer programs after I am done with Explorer. I have a legite copy of win xp pro. and I build my own systems. This has only started latley. Maybe when the server was updated an error was missed?

An old saying, To make a mistake is human, To really screw up requires a computer.....

After I denied the info this came up on a white screen.

You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '****88' at line 1

There never has been, nor never will there be any code on the ATS servers that do anything more (from a privacy standpoint) than read the data inside the cookies we write. We have security consultants who have installed customized security, and monitor the servers on a weekly basis.

That being said... this would not be the first time a person firewall system popped up "errors" for normal web browsing operations while on ATS... after all, these software products need to constantly remind you of their "worth".

Is there any other data you can provide?

It sounds more like you have gatten yourself a backdoor virus my friend. It is trying to force you into putting your info in and then bam...there goes your bank account. I would try another virus scanner if Norton does not pick anything up.I think Norton is average at best.

I just thought I'd mention, PINs aren't neccessarily related to bank accounts. A lot of passwords are referred to as PINs, for instance, the one to a Cisco VPN connection.

If there's any sort of child-lock on any of your PC's security programs, it may have flagged ATS as a non-child friendly place on its list, and might be requiring the parental approval PIN.

I had a dimestore firewall that came with a crappy network card, and it required a PIN for dang near every site I went to till I figured that one out.

They could phish ... in the sense of the word at anytime you want. You are having to log into thier SITE *SNIP*!!! ... Once you logged in if someone were smart enough ... AND TRUST me they ARE. They could have a Bot prog. do just about anything that they wanted to or get what ever information that they wanted to. As far as thats concerned they could DL a bot to your PC and everytime you access certain files it could alert them. Alot has to do with what kind of connection you have as to what really limits the possibilities.

P.S. OH YEAH ... There are FIREWALLS setup within most of you guys systems. But the firewall is only as good as the programming. And there are only so many languages. And every file that is Crucial to your system are all named the same thing if you have WINDOWS XP ... Pro .. .or home ... Windows 98 .... WINDOWS ME .. (if you have this ... THROW IT AWAY) ... Windows 2000 ... Many others ... *SNIP*

Why the name calling?
It's a perfectly legitimate question.
It's possible to share knowledge without demeaning others.
But you're smart enough to know that, right?

I love the picture, I laughed so hard I ran to the bathroom........

I am not a hard ass as some people might think but having good security for online is mandatory for surfing.

I run 3 different antivirus programs daily. I also run 4 different spyware scanners. I also flush out all memory data frequently. Including the pagefile.sys and others. But I am not perfect.....

I am glad that ATS is well monitored. Thank you overlord....

But you have to remember all that code is written by flawed humans, who from time to time and with some lack of sleep, miss some things.

I counted on this when I was investigating crimes. Not every wipe is clean.

As my motif says.....There is always Evidence, The truth is out there.......

dude, what are you viewing that you need that much security? wait, don't tell me. I don't want to feel the need to wear nine pc condoms.
