I'm with you, tombangelta.

It'd be nice to see the Iranian military wipe the floor with the British military. Not sure if they could DO it, but it would be nice to see.

However, it would be EVEN BETTER to see the Iranian military hand the US military's ass to them, but I SERIOUSLY doubt that they could take our military, even with it being stretched thin. But, I'm sure we'll find out in a year or two...

Remember, US ans UK are part of NATO. If militarily attacked-i am thinking firing bullets/rounds/missles, then all NATO countries will be required by treaty to send help.

I seriously doubt that Iran can take on the US-overstreached as it is,UK all NATO and what about fellow EU member states...............

Unless Iran can come up with more than a few suitcase nukes from Russia, they could not possible win, muchless survive.

It is my guess they have a few and this is trying to get the west to atttack so they can use some and call it self defence-crazy, i know, but............

While it's possible that Iran has bitten off more than it can swallow here, the Iranians are generally adept at the applying leverage, and timing it to their advantage.

With the US administration battling to keep congressional hearings from exposing additional wrongdoing here at home...the majority of Americans frowning heavily on the Bush failure in Iraq...the spring offensives in Afghanistan set to explode with Musharraf on the ropes in Shi'a Pakistan...Iran couldn't have picked a better moment.

The potential repercussions of all out war with Iran are of astronomical proportions...I doubt the bulk of the American people will abide US aggression against Iran...even in support of our British ally. I see the US putting pressure on Blair to temper the UK response...and at the minimum, bringing the situation before the UN Security Counsel before harsh military action occurs.

In the interim, Iran buys time...gains stature in the world Islamic community, attempts to use the captured personal as bargaining chips...and in the end, releases them before armageddon rains from the skies.

At least I hope this is the scenario.

Here's a little more on the disputed waterway: /23sr44

Good fortune

Britain has told Iranian to free them before this gets "more serious".

Iranian President has said he will reconsider diplomatic ties with those who are against his nuclear activity (that means Britain and America). Plus the Government is now following the leads regarding this being a planned operation.

Expect it to heat up during the week.

ermm...how?

we do not know of their location and if they are in Tehran, a snatch and grab is impossible.

I agree, the SAS aren't THAT good.

Going into Tehran (a city on constant alert), rescuing them from a secure compound (they may even be somewhere else as a bluff) and then ex-filtrating without casulties would be even past the capabilities of the legendary SF unit.

sending the SAS is going to result in more captured troops and more propaganda for Iran.

All we need to do is promise the Chinese and Russian some oil (both have economic links to Iran), then we have nothing holding us back.

oh yes, the belly slap torture technique, the horror. British Royal Navy personnel aren't terrorists. That's the difference.

yep the iranians will be ready for such a move. the british probably know where the sailors are though. but the iranians would i assume be ready for anything like that.

You may see some skirmish between UK and Iranian Naval in the next few days, a huge breakdown has to happen before the UK/US decide to use airstrikes against them.

I for one, no matter how much I hate the Iranian "regime," would NOT wish any conflict to heat up... guys, have you forgotten HOW MUCH GAS COSTS?

Jokes aside, let's just hope that this situation resolves peacefully and that Iran is not serious in trying the Brits for "espionage." Hopefully they are just using them as bargaining chips.

They do a whole lot worse than the belly slap. Would you like to go down there for a few years?

And no one there has been convicted. All are accused waiting an unfair trial.

Hey mister, have you heard the news? Our troops are part of the BRITISH armed forces. I take it from your insulting and juvenile remark that you have also never met a Royal Marine? I'd love to see you call one a 'hooray henry' to his face. You might need some rearranging to your own face if you did.

The majority of those being held would love to see you and yours being blown to bits. Yeah, let's treat them nice...

No, we should thank them for taking care of our scum.

Cheers,
Zep

*SNIP* Don't know where in the world you are. Can see from your details you think God is great, loads of people think that. Question is: Where is YOUR god? (...)

We are not the USA, we keep the order, that is what we were doing - looking after everyones interests while at the same time watching our arse. That part of the world is a liability - Full stop.

You call me a piece of feces? And you wonder why I'd like to see the Persians send your military to Hades where it belongs. We'll see y'all come begging us to step in and bail your asses out when Iran starts stomping on y'alls military.

Feces, faeces, or fæces (see spelling differences) is waste product from an animal's digestive system tract expelled through the anus (or cloaca) during defecation. In humans, defecation may occur (depending on the individual and the circumstances) from once every two or three days to several times a day. Hardening of the feces may cause prolonged interruption in the routine and is called constipation. The word faeces is the plural of the Latin word fæx meaning "dregs".

And who exactly is 'us'?

That part of the world has been treading a fine line for far too long. Fair enough I may not agree with certain points / ideas. But any doubts I have pale into insignificance compared to the amount of hardware pointed in that particular direction.

Granted, if Muslims could agree on something then I would have to worry. But at the moment I’m preeeeeety sure I’m backing the winners
.

That might happen in the fantasy world inside your head lol, but in the real world I'm afraid you're going to be extremely disappointed.

I also find it extremely ironic that because one single person calls you a piece of excrement, you use that as justification to want to send thousands and thousands of people to hell. That makes sense. Not.

I served in the UK military too, meet you in hell buddy.

Cheers,
Zep

Mirthful Me have you removed some of err truthseekas (or similar) 's posts?

I haven't had chance to read previous ones, but thought others may benefit from a prime example of uninformed inflammatory immature (!) remarks. Oh well.
