Hi canceredge,

While a copy of this photo (and, hopefully, some comments on it) may appear in the French files, this is in fact one of the famous photos taken by Paul Trent in McMinnville, Oregon on 11 May 1950.

See, for example, the material (including images of the photos) at the links below:
www.nicap.org...
www.debunker.com...

Kind Regards,

Isaac

Yeah, I have been sifting through as well. Google has a translation tool ou can use on their website. I haven't seen any good photos yet, but here are three brief descriptions of airforce witness accounts:

On October 15, 2004 the leader of a patrol of mirage 4 is alerted by one of his fellow-members who announces being “followed” by an aircraft in the 5 hours. The leader acquirt also the visual one of the point which disappears at the end of 15 to 20 seconds. The leader shows the passage from an aircraft of the hunter type but no trace was located by the controllers on the ground. The event remains unexplained.

On September 12, 1998, around 9 p.m. 53, the crew of a flight for Dijon is cross rather high audessus of him by two luminous points which are identified first of all like a military traffic. These points have however an odd trajectory which assembles and kills and carries out many guy zags. The Air Force on its side confirms that no military traffic is present in the zone. In addition no detection radar was noted. The investigation did not allow of indentifier this observation.

August 26, 1998 to 00 hour 32, the crew of cd. 10 observes the hard passage 10 seconds approximately of six luminous points in tight formation having the total shape of a star with one trainée. The trajectory is horizontal and the points are particularly luminous. Astronomer amateur and the pilot, old fighter pilot cannot be explained this phenomenon which describes in 10 seconds approximately an arc of circle of 90°, which according to the distance, very difficult to estimate " led to speeds very largely supersonic. No observation radar came corrèler this observation. Description can make think of an atmospheric re-entry but the investigation did not make it possible to find an explanation.

There are also Ministry of Defense reports you can download with these reports.

Anyone find any good quality photos yet?

my eyes are starting to hurt.

The site was surprisingly well reachable during last night so it kept me up most of the night
Here's what I found so far:

well I've downloaded all the pdf's in the documentation section (not the most interesting part of the site. more interesting is the case search)

Some pdf's errored out or are even broken on the site itself (1kb, adobe won't open ithem) but still I've got 230mb of pdf's on my hd now lol

Poured through all the pages but didn't find anything really mindboggling.

The files in the documentation section seem to be more promotionals, procedures and so on, not actual reports.

The more interesting parts are in the recherche section.
But despite the sheer number of reports actual media is very scarce.. most of it, I'd judge by my scouring about 99%, are your basic textual sighting reports.

Not a single thing made me go "Whoa!"

The most interesting thing I found with my limited french are pilot reports.. and lot's of them. But then it's limited again to textual reports. sometimes transcripts of plane control communications. Not even a radar printout (I'd figure if something weird or so happens mid air you'd put a print out in the casefile just for completeness sake)

Some of the documents in the documentation section read and look like bad ufo books lol.

All in all so far I've been pretty dissappointed. I wasn't expecting anything really revealing but I was thinking they might have a good resolution photo or 2 that would show above average detail/clearity and therefor wasn't public up to now. But sadly no. I did find one case with some 16 pictures... pictures of nearby houses, empty sky, backyard... dunno what that's doing there.

Ow well cuz of how the look up function works it'll take a while to view each and every report, Ill be doing that on and off in the coming days, so maybe there's still something with somewhat of a "whoa!"-factor to be found

I'll leave the texts in the documentation section to people with a better understanding of french.

Its way too ridiculous, not having the site up for so many days now.........i just dont get it.
I mean, there's plenty of sites that have huge traffic all year around, and they never fail like this, and for so long.

Seems abit suspicous to me, As soon as the site OPENED up it was instantaneously "brought down" by unkown causes, some say by to much traffic, but if you ask me i say government officials were removing documents which were "to revealing" or may potentioaly prove the existance of UFO's or Aliens. Probably the US (or other governments) interveened and wanted some stuff removed. But hey its probably a genuine problem and we are just impatient lol

Yeah !!!

Ok
I managed now to get the first page also...

This is intro translated to english...

"Opening of the gate of information of the GEIPAN !!!
This site will allow, in the long term and in the respect of the private life of the citizens, to place at the disposal of the public the whole of the data collectees since 30 years by the GEIPAN on the aerospace phenomena not identify. Right now nearly 25 percent of the cases observe are available and consultable, which represents the majority of the 20 last years observations. The site will be regularly updated progressively with the validation of the data, including the photographic and video documents which are in the course of digitalization. The GEIPAN thanks you for your patience and hopes that this site will answer waitings of the majority of the people interested by the phenomenon UFO."

For now it stoped, will try to put it through google page translator to see if it gets response... It doesn't mean to me a thing in french...

Hope that it's realy bad traffic and not some Gov. involvement. :|

I am becoming VERY suspicious about this all too. It is March 28th - you would figure with people who have big networks like YouTube and various other media outlets on the web, that a government computer's server would at least be functional by now. Yes, we all know that government computers can be pretty crappy - but you would think that they would have easily have fixed the problem by now, its not that hard to do really. Set up multiple server clusters, set up routers that would adjust the traffic accordingly (either by subnets or what ever)... pretty simple computer technology going on here... and France has the same computer system technology as the rest of the West...

If Myspace can get massive traffic by millions world wide, and have everything from blogs, music and videos - what the heck is going on with FRANCE?

Concerned,

The French CNES website is currently running quite quickly if anyone wants to see these files.

Use the link below, and click on a point on the map:

It is a bit dissapointing that there is no photo or video evidence.
There is a classification in every case from A to D. Does it show the credibility or the importance of the event?

posted on Mar, 31 2007 @ 10:07 AM

The classification is for the identifiability (is this a real word?) of the phenomena.

A - Perfectly identified.
B - Probably identified.
C - Non identifiable (not enough data)
D - Non identified.

So, the more interesting would be those of category "D".

I got this information here.

Right there are not that many

There is this site still: www.ufoevidence.org...

(who owns this website exactly?)

It's got the cometa report available and there are photos from all around the world

I don't know who owns that site, the only thing I know is that it is not related to the CNES.

The UFOEvidence.org website is based in and operated from Seattle, WA, USA, near Mt. Rainier, the site of Kenneth Arnold's 1947 sighting that marked the beginning of the modern UFO phenomenon.

The site is now up and running quite quickly, documents are available for download (some of them are not ready apparently) so dive in and have a look!

For those of you having trouble with accessing the site.. try and get on it around 5 - 8 am in the morning (gmt+1)

and again after having downloaded and sorted through the stuff in the documents section, it's the "recherche" section that's interesting... the documents section doesn't have ufo reports as such.

but if you're interested in e.g. the guidelines they use to document and research have a blast

the actual sightings etc reports are all in the "recherche" section.

--------

to the comment about the US asking stuff be put down.. not everyone bows to the wishes of the us government just like that... especially the french.

I mean what are they going to do.. invent some reason to nuke france? lol

-------

I'm not surprised there isn't much media in it just by using common sense..

person sees ufo, calls police, they show up.. (ufo's long gone) take eye witness report.. seeing as this is a ufo they send it on to cnes.

when would they have taken a picture?

Nice demonstration again of the effect of wanting to believe in this thread too..

there's nothing "extreme" on the site, so then they must be covering the real stuff up.. or the usa must have interveined.. or aliens must have beamed the good stuff out.

how about, cnes never came across any astonishing evidence? (see my example above about why no pics)

we humans have become pretty good at going somewhere and then leaving without an obvious trace.. but aliens far more advanced can't go anywhere without leaving massive trace evidence?

as for the site downs.... really there's nothing weird about that.. they just underestimated the amount of interest or they don't feel this warrants spending money for more bandwidth.

the site has since it's launch been reachable. If you'd try on less busy hours. 5 Am gmt+1 does the trick for me.

and of course not everything is in it. they even mention that themselves.. still some 600 cases to be added to the online dbase.

and despite im all for public knowledge, honesty etc.. I can imagine certain things that would be best kept hush hush even if that seems unfair.

just a random example. if the world governments know that the world will end in 2010. why would they want all of us to know? we'd stop working, we'd stop hoping,we'd be sick with anxiety.. the world would simply stop. (just an extreme example of something that warrants secrecy)

With several things in the course of my life I wish I had been happy and oblivious instead of the angst I have had knowing. (no nothing ufo-ish but personal)

bump!

This is amazing that they published all of this. Are there any other pictures worth mentioning?

From what I have seen, no.

But they have some very interesting cases, like the one of the object that was seen hovering over a lake at more or less 1 metre from the surface.

It was moving in the direction of the margin and after it reached it it started a vertical flight until it disapeared.

This was witnessed by two people, a retired electrical engineer and his wife.
