Now I don't want to go posting every weird thing I capture in the sky but this one was just too strange not to share.

Yesterday I recorded at 12:46pm for about a minute in one position looking up over the city...I walked away from the camera. I just now noticed a few frames at 28:13-28:17 where something saucer looking zooms right passed my camera at what looks to be very high speed. Only caught 5 frames...I have seen many frames of bugs and birds passing my camera but this looks pretty solid although I may be wrong.

I tried to upload the entire video to photobucket but it stinks and you cant see anything not to mention that you cant download either so I deleted it until I can find a place to upload to...It's only a minute long but its 70 megs
so I put together some stills. I will upload the video ASAP.

Frame 1

Frame 2

Frame 3

Frame 4

Frame 5

Any thought's?

Actually when you look very close to the rod, it looks like a spiral ROD! It could very well be a UFO. I mean you can clearly see a spiral.

It's a something alright! They're following you around lately!

Probably hard to draw any conclusions though with a few frames. It could be anything? What do you think?

You'd have to look at things like the time the shutter stays open. Many of those "rods" people have taken a picture of are just a long exposure of an insect or bird flying by. If this is a video camera, it may have a shutter speed of 1/30 second. For a photo, that is very slow for any kind of fast-action shot. For clarity of moving objects, you need good light and as fast a shutter speed as possible.

I think the rod: shutter and insect speed was slightly debunked.

eh Skunk2, are you being sarcastic =p? Yah it certainly is a rod ha. But seriously, a "rod" is considered as a extraterrestrial object. or insect.

Ha.

It's difficult to decide what that is because there is no way to determine how far from the camera the object is. If it is thousands of feet in the air it could even be one of the cigar-shaped motherships.

Oh definetely, it could very well be a cigar-shaped mothership, infact I dreamt of one up close!! It is brilliant. I have a thread that has my dream notes somewhere. Hold on, I'll see if I can pull up my authors list and post it here... It has my phophesized-like dreams of the future and such.

I also noticed the spiral. When you zoom up on it all the way it almost looks like a corkscrew...

7A Thanks for sharing! I love hearing about UFO dreams... I had a dream where I was moving through the skies with a formation of large cloaked oval/saucer shaped craft. They were moving in a straight line together and spread out evenly... I don't remember any sounds at all... Complete silence moving through bright white clouds and blue skies... I felt totally at peace. To this day it has been one of the most visual dreams I have ever had. I really thought it was real.

Strangely enough, this was not too long after my first sighting of a cloaked oval shaped craft I witnessed with my best friend!

Rods? Ha. I've been doing video podcasts, and I've had bugs fly in front of my webcam, and it's come out a rod. I wish I'd kept that photo.

I'm thinking It was a bird, or a tiny bug in front of your camera.

Really? I don't see it.

I don't know what it is but I've seen fast moving birds and eventually they break shape pattern. I watch birds from time-to-time and have seen some strange objects out there so I try and differentiate the two when looking at what may appear to be something that it may not be.

This has a missile shape that seems consistent throughout the frames.

Not saying it's not a bird...just that on first impression it doesn't look like that at all.

Luckily I zoomed out and back in that 1 minute of recording... I can't tell if I zoomed in all the way back or just partially but you can clearly see my window frame on the right, the city down below and the circular cloud directly above the building tallest in the center...which is where I pretty much had the image centered... Same cloud as in the frames...

Mabey this will help...

When I posted my comment I had only seen the 5 photos in your first post. There are no reference points in them as you can see.

I have seen this phenomenon on a TV programme before but, have never seen it mentioned on ATS. They are known as Rods, theories suggest they could be some kind of high speed flying animal, they've been seen in space, on deep sea dives, they've even been seen flying THROUGH solid objects. Take a look...

Its a fly/moth/flying insect, nothing more.

You left the shutter open too long so you get the Rod effect.

Move along, nothing to see here...

Can you show us frames at the same zoom setting of an object of known size? With a little calibration, it might be possible to rule out a bird or a conventional aircraft seen almost edge on.

At first blush, it looks to me like its enough pixels to identify a bird, if it is in fact a bird. If the orientation is right, it's climbing, so it couldn't have its wings folded in for four seconds.

The angular size doesn't change much, so it's mostly moving across the line of sight. Again just eyeballing the contrast, it appears to be fairly distant - seen through a bit of haze- but without some reference objects in the frame, it's impossible to tell for sure. Planes can move about up to about 30 times their length per second when in subsonic flight, and I think these images are well below that limit.

This sequence shows an object moving about 60 times its diameter per second, but unfortunately its only about 8-9 pixels, so I can't rule out a bird (some birds can fly > 100 times their diameter in 1 second).
