The good old friend of a friend source. Reliable as always. You said in your first post 'the things I have seen' yet now in this post it is the 3rd hand information you got off a buddy.

Go on, admit it. You're talking pants.

Well actually isn't the SWORDS system allready in operational use?
It's a "robotic soldier" on tracks..

Swords is, but it is remote. What this cat is talking about I'm lead to believe, is more like a UCAV or UAV style. Exept preprogrammed with a mission/objective and able to conduct such with out remote control.

Not that I have heard of it, but that is how it reads to me.

So far, I know of no combat robots able to engage the enemy with out some ROE oversite. There are going to be robot vehicles, traveling in convoy for logistics. Fully automated and able to respond to the enviornment, see the DARPA Challenge for details. More search results.

However even those will be over watched by AH and other varients of helos.

I assume ot won't be long until we have "robots" that are able to conduct limited scale operations like building raids without direct input from operator.
Pretty much a autonomous lawnmower combined with a thermal sight and a rifle.

Anything more complex would require too much programming to be effective at the moment.

I was watching 'Ultimate Weapons' ( i think ) and they had what I believe was the SWORDS ROV.

Way coolio

They showed many advantages, one of my fav's being with all the automation involved, when used as a 'sniper' of sorts there is no need to breath properly or take time to adjust the aim.
