This article mentions some interesting facts, here is the link:

Although, I don't like that they had to go and mention Eddie.

Just some food for thought.

From the WWE Website

A Statement From World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.
March 19, 2007

All of the allegations set forth in a recent SI.com article mentioning WWE predate the initiation of WWE’s current Talent Wellness Program. This WWE program prohibits the use of performance enhancing drugs, as well as other prescription drugs which can be abused, if taken for other than a legitimate medical purpose pursuant to a valid prescription from a licensed and treating physician. For purposes of WWE's policy, prescriptions obtained over the Internet and/or from suppliers of prescription drugs from the Internet are not considered to have been given for a legitimate medical purpose.

Just watch them try and dig themselves out of this one.

Eddie was my favorite wrestler since his WCW days but man he was really on the juice especially during his world title run.

Way to many wrestlers have died early because of the side effects of roids and with vinces love of huge larger than life wrestlers more will continue to die young no matter what their wellness program says.

Oh yeah, and don't be surprised if all of a sudden, the wwe releases some of their talent now.
And don't be further surprised if said talent comes forward about some of the misdealings that are rumored to go on behind the scenes.

The same could be said for a great deal of professional athletes.

The problem is that there are thousands of crackpot physicians out there who are more than glad to prescribe addictive pills to people that should not be taking those pills, and WWE knows this. This policy is basically like saying, "We condone all alcoholism, unless our wrestlers buy their alcohol from a bar or liquor store."

I even read up on one of the backstage sites (I think that it was lordsofpain.net) that the WWE doesn't even test for marijuana (which, I really don't have a problem with.) but they do test for barbiturates and methamphetimines and coc aine.
In fact, the only reason that RVD and Sabu got in trouble to begin with is because they were pulled over by a state cop with pot on them.

A huge part of the problem, at least as I see it, is (besides what the previous poster said) that it's so easy to get prescription meds over the internet also.

Unfortunately, these guys (and gals) are on the road 280+ days out of the year and their afforded little time to rest and recover.
So, sometimes, pain meds are the only way that some of them can go out and perform dangerous stunts night after night.

I'm not sure that the vast majority of fans actually appreciate what these performers go through for our enjoyment.

It makes me sad.

I've watched wrestling for most of my life and have seen some good wrestlers come and go and even the best group formations like the NWO,Four horsemen,DX,Wolf pack crumble. The worst is seeing deaths caused by some sort of steroid use in the world of sports entertainment.Thee only good side to it is the occasional screw up whether it's in the ring or in back stage interviews,if your into the funny side of wrestling come visit my thread "what is up with wrestling??",it'll just take a moment out of your day, hope they could get down to what really caused Chris Benoit to do this to himself and his family.
