If you are using Firefox you can download YouTube videos by using Keepvid. I'm not sure about other Internet things though.

Yeah keepvid.com

Any browser will do it

mozilla / microsoft

some videos can only be donwloaded in .flv format which is flash video format.

This can be easily converted through free media convertors or even better download a free codec pack (which contains all the COmpressors DECompressors for different video formats) so you can play it in any media format. And if you like you can just change the extension to whatever i.e. .avi .mp4 etc.

easy

Keepvid is nice. For Firefox there's also the extension VideoDownloader that let you download the FLV file directly from the YouTube video you're watching. (Instead of copy & pasting the URL.)
addons.mozilla.org...

Then the tool named SUPER can convert the FLV file to AVI or almost any other formats.

I just wanna "bump" this thread by saying it's a awesom site. Gonna make those streamed thingys a lot nicer to handle now.

Just go keepvid.com and paste that url so you can get it in a nice watchable for later file

Thx for this info!

to download videos from Youtube is not allowed. That is in their t&c. That is why they dont have a link for it. You can try veoh or stage6 if you want to download videos. Both these sites offer good quality videos that members put up and others can download.

My prefered plug-in for Firefox

"Fast Video Download 1.3.1.1"
(works with Firefox: versions 1.0 – 2.0.0.*)

And after you get the flv file from keepvid you might want to convert it. The best free tool i found so far that converts in multiple formats is the one provided from Bitcomet. Bitcomet.com then just go to flv converter in downloads. It allows you to convert to avi, and other formats.
