BAGHDAD (AP) - Three suicide bombers driving chlorine-laden trucks struck in the Sunni insurgent stronghold of Anbar province, killing two policemen and forcing about 350 Iraqi civilians and six U.S. troops to seek treatment for exposure to the gas, the military said Saturday.
The attacks came after back-to-back bombings last month released chlorine gas, prompting the U.S. military to warn that insurgents are adopting new tactics in a campaign to spread panic.
Al-Darraji has been involved in negotiations with U.S. and Iraqi government officials seeking to persuade the Shiite militias to tamp down the violence against Sunnis, but the efforts have created tension in the ranks of Shiite militiamen and some blamed the assault - which also killed two bodyguards - on a faction unhappy about cooperation with the U.S. military, a local Mahdi Army commander said Friday.

Again, I ask, what about W's threat of assured retaliation in the event of a chem. attack? He said there would be a swift response. What if these guys are testing our ability to defend against on of the infamed WMDs.

Yes the bombs can be made easily for with regular chlorine, but the military have a very toxic Chlorine that they use for cleaning and disinfecting and that is what I think is been use here.
Now the Iraqi military may have access to it, then they could be using it during their death squats attacks or giving it to the militias.

chlorine (or it's derivatives) can be used to make much worse products. I don't want to be too specific about it on a public message board.

..Sigh.
Im hoping they dont take this to another level,
Even if it is Iran, or some outside presence...
fighting the occupation with convential weapons was one of the last rules the insrugents have stuck too......
Chemical weapons will turn the rest of the world away from Iraq, where as atm they are supporting them in their occupational plight.
Chemical warfare from anyone is haneous.

Against troops on the battlefield yes..
but when its citizens attacking citizens and troops, in a crowded district.. its very intricate...
You cannot just retaliate in the same sense you would on the battlefield.

..This sort of bomb wouldnt be difficult to make...
I cannot see why the US would want to resort to having its death squads use it.. it changes the struggle completely.. in a way that wouldnt benefit war profiteers from keeping their nest egg secure.
And Its in the USA's best interests to make the war 'appear' as if they are winning, or achieving something. False flagging an attack like this rams the reality in our faces a bit too much.
While I dont think its an Iraq doing it, I definately think its someone who's been involved in the resistance for a while.
Maybe a way for the insurgents to make the issue chemical/biological. .thus forcing foreign aid parties, perhaps the UN into Iraq to assist...
I believe it was in the USA's desire to drive the UN out early.. the UN bombing I dont think was Iraqi's, I really think the Iraqi's want the UN / Red Cross in....

are you mad? US death agents making bombs now? is it so hard for you people to actually belive that terrorists ACTUALLY EXIST?
The USA is NOT ALL POWERFUL. Stop thinking that a handful of 60+ year old politicians can rule the world.
A U.S. official, meanwhile, blamed al-Qaida in Iraq for chlorine bomb attacks that struck villagers in Anbar province earlier this week but said tight Iraqi security measures prevented a higher number of casualties.
