Secret Service: Man Climbs White House Fence

WASHINGTON -- An unidentified man scaled a White House fence Friday morning, prompting a security lockdown in the area, authorities said.

A Secret Service spokesman said the man climbed over the fence on the northeast side of the White House grounds shortly after 11 a.m. and was arrested.

Authorities said the man had placed a package at Lafayette Park. That package was later destroyed with a water cannon.
