Black Chem Trails

A couple of days ago, in the early evening I noticed two airplanes that had very dark chem or con trails behind them as they were going up in the sky!! It was a very suspicious looking trail. Even my girlfriend commented on them, and she has no idea about the idea behind Chem trails. I also noticed a very dark looking trail right above us that seemed to hang very low much like other chem trails sometimes do. I'm not sure if this is because it was the lighting in the sky or what?

I think Vinadetta simply means the contrail itself looked black?

I've seen it a few times myself, mainly when the sun is low. Just as clouds can vary in colour so too can contrails - it's all down to lighting and shadow.

Can't find any example in my collection off hand though, I'm afraid.

I'm not sure whether it is the "black line phenomenom" or just a black chem trail. It was at dusk so it could have been lighting and shadows. It looked like black smoke
