School district sued over graduation held in church

www.cnn.com

The state American Civil Liberties Union chapter is suing the Newark public school district on behalf of a Muslim teen over a school's decision to hold its graduation ceremonies in a Baptist church.

The New Jersey ACLU said Wednesday it was suing the district because its decision to hold graduation in the church prevented West Side High School senior Bilal Shareef from attending. Shareef's religious beliefs forbid him from entering a building with religious images, the civil liberties group said.

The ceremony violated several provisions in the state constitution prohibiting public institutions from showing a religious preference, the ACLU asserts.

The plaintiffs seek unspecified damages and a ban on further public school ceremonies in places of worship.

Thoughts about this? If the kid couldn't go into churches I don't think it is fair to him. Why have it in a church anyway?

This is utter crap. Islam preaches very VERY clearly that remembrance to fulfill your faith is equivalent to fulfilling it your faith.

This means if you are forced to drink alcohol because there is nothing else, as long as you remember you are not permitted to do so - you will go to heaven.

It means if you are unable to pray - but remember you must pray - you will go to heaven.

This "muslim" is either retarded, not a muslim, or starting # and should go to Hell.
