Hi everyone thought id start a thread about one of my great passions , and one of the fastest growing sports/pastimes in the world that is poker.

Im interested in discusing all aspects of Poker, favourite game whether it be stud, draw or hold em , the forth coming WSOP 2007 tactics or even terrible bad beat stories .

I know I cant be the only one interested in poker surely so whatever it is lets discuss it.

seems that the WSOP has decided to strech its claws out in to Europe and hold an event for the first time outside the US.

"This is the first time bracelet events will be awarded outside of Las Vegas," said Jeffrey Pollack, World Series of Poker Commissioner. "The World Series of Poker Europe will have a unique identity, style and flair, but will remain true to the 38-year tradition and heritage of the WSOP.

Full article found here at .Inside edge

Not a move that greatly surprises me , what with the recent banning of american Internet qualifiers from the internet in to WSOP events , time to seek out new markets and oppourtunity me thinks.

Great news for the european scene.

Hit my first ever Royal flush last night , in a 3 handed game of limit Hold em !

Absolutely buzzing out of my brain, I held the Jack of diamonds and the 10 of spades ,the flop came 10d,Qd,Ad, 4th street came kd and the river Ac.

Funny thing is for me not for the other chap the ace on the river gave him quads he must have been
needless to say I took the pot down and won a grand sum of 0.60 cents but hey what a way to do it.

I did take a screen shot of the hand but missed the actual cards only got the summary so that ticked me off lol.

Incidently if your wondering about the odds against a royal flush its approx 30,939-1, to put that in perspective the next highest ranking hand the straight flush has odds of 3,590-1 and odds of a single pair are about 1.28-1.

Anyone ever hit a royal?

Yeah I've hit a Royal Flush. It's about 5 times now. Twice in money games and 3 times with family. I happen to like three of a kind the best. Buckaroo what is your favorite hand?

Thank you for replying , im glad at least one person did.

I like three of a kind too , a small set is very hard to spot especially/obviously if you are a holding pocket pair , very tricky.

one of my favourite hands to be dealt is pocket jacks, its just lucky for me always seem to make a set or quads.

Pocket jacks never seems to work out for me.
Do you play online? It would be cool to sit with people from ats.

The fun only MSN Texas hem, has great graphics and moves pretty good when you attain an above 1700 rating.

After playing 2000 internet games I figured I was ready for the Indian casino up the road to try my skeels.

You already know what happened don't you?

ATS, Texas holdem online, are not real life. As entertaining as the www. is; experience away from the keyboard, monitor and mouse is mandatory for true success.

Krysupor on MSN games; hope to see you there.

Nothing is really that lucky for me, but I will chase a flush into the very bowels of hell itself.

Well said I wouldnt play "in real life" for ages simply because I was scared of making a fool of myself , having someone comment on how I played a hand or forgetting to post a blind or something like that.

Having said that the Internet is a great learning curve for beginners and there is alot of money to be made on line , if you know when and where to look there is plenty of, ahem fishing to be done even for a intermediate player like myself.

Another positive is that you can play ALOT of hands on the net which can only be a positve, also you can teach yourself new games im recently picking up omaha , I wouldnt know where to find a live game of Omaha in England if I wanted too.

I play poker once in a while and used to play alot online.

My brother in law is a like a nearly-pro poker player, and almost made it to the final table of the World Series of Poker a couple years ago. He had like one more round to get into it. So every time he visits we always play alot of poker.

One of my complaints about poker is the need for some to educate players and complain about the way they played a hand. I am just bumfuddled when they do this. I want to play with people who don't have much experience. Why educate players? It's like they are wanting others to play better. I want people to play crappy. More money for me.

Don't bitch about the way someone played a hand. Keep that info to yourself and use it to your advantage.

Good point , seems some folk cant help themselves , you get it all the time on the internet poker rooms ........... just shutup and play.

I've played a lot online, and it never really bothered me that much. It's pretty easy to ignore people you aren't in the same room with. I went to the boats in KC for the first time about a month ago. It didn't take long to see who the regulars were. Most of the players were pretty cool. But some just kept complaining about the play of others. "You went all-in with that hand?" This one guy said that to me and stormed off to another table. Immaturity at its finest in my opinion. Being my first time at a casino, I was too nervous to be bothered by those players. Also I was up $200 so I just kept telling myself "screw em if they don't like how I'm playing." End of rant for now.

I get nervous playing live too ,

Its silly if you think about it theese, folk have just been watching too much phill Hellmuth on tv.

I say play whatever you want they need not see your hand , and if you win with 7-2 off suit all in, thats your lookout get over it.

Its exactly the same attitude I take moonhoke.

My favorite is either Joe Hachem - Laid back and just an all around cool guy.

or

Jennifer Harman - HOT!
