No, communism does not work. Communism just creates 2 classes, the poor, and the ruling class.

And yet, weirdly, even pre-'bail-out', much of this board was taken up with threads about the very same thing happening in non-communist America.

What you're describing isn't inherent to communism, rather human greed. Greed, the idea of 'always more', is - funnily enough - part of the motivator behind capitalism and corporatism though.

Communism works,

The man called Josip Broz Tito made it work. He died .. this was the end of Yugoslavia and the end of ' communism which worked '

Tito created Yugoslavia and progressed very good at the time. The majority and I really mean almost every citizen which lived in Yugoslavia loved him and the way how Yugoslavia worked. After 1992 and present times Ex-Yugoslavia got warped back where they were 40 years ago.

Tito did many amazing things including: running a country with a communistic system and running a republic with 2 religions, with peace which is very rare now.

Communism works but you'll need a leader unlike every leader out there these days.

My grandma once said if you leave 10 people in a room for 3 days. 3 of the people will have gotten everyone elses posessions by the end of the last day. That's true.. Few people don't succumb to greed.

China is a socialist dictatorship with capitalist elements. Not Communist.

Does Communism work?

Of course, if you're China.

China has a huge slave labor force who are paid only a teeny tiny sum compared to what they create. That profit, goes back to China.

So of course if you had every American worker making 2 cents an hour, yes, we as a nation could then pocket a hefty profit.

But I never want to be anything like China. Never.

We have profitted off of blood and slavery long enough. We must change out ways if we want to survive much longer.

I guess that all depends on your definition of "work".

For example, does large scale communism work to secure human rights? Well not really.

Does large scale Communism work to facilitate freedom for the individual? Well not really.

Now if you are talking about the religious form of communism practiced in places like the Pennsylvania deutch communities, then that's a different story, because

1. Everyone is there by their own free choice
2. Everyone holds the same belief system
3. It's small enough that people actually care about eachother.
4. Growth is the lowest priority. Maintaining a lifestyle is the highest (true conservatism).

As you can see Communism can work very well in families, or somewhat bigger societies of those who have similar goals. However does the communism in China work? Only if your measure of success is who can consume the most of the worlds resources and thus be a huge bully.

Has it ever occured to you that Communism involves the government controlling the money so it can control infrastructure and social security and its people only get allowances for the extra stuff in their lives? Communists don't want excessive amounts of money, it is against everything they stand for.

If you don't like the way they live then that's just tough, because I'm sure they hate capitalism even more. How could anyone support a system where the poor get poorer and the rich get richer is beyond me, but that's the American dream.

In short...no. China is not really a "communist" nation, it's State Capitalism. The state is not there for the benefit of the people, but for the benefit of the state...the state invests in other countries for PROFIT. The U.S.'s government operates for loss or no net gain. China also has been open to free trade, the only thing in China that isn't "free" is freedoms that put the government at stake. Frankly I think India will eventually outperform China because it is socially free. I think China will collapse under its own weight because they do not allow social freedoms.
