by that time kruschev had decided to stop supporting the cubans.
therefore, castro had to come up with new policies, disallowing him to continue his 'permanent revolution'
it was already hard enough for them when the u.s. enforced the blockade.

echelon, I don't know where you get your figures from, but please list just one socialist country which is better off than a capitalist one. Please back it up with some type of statistic not just your say so.OK.

Your whole argument is moot echelon. The Canadian economy is driven by capitalists. They can call themselves socialists, democratic socialists or whatever. The point is Canada is a western economy driven by capitalism.

Canada has socialistic aspects of their society, such as health care - but that's quite a stretch there Echelon. And you mentioned Sweden who, with still hight taxes and unemployment, had to veer back to capitalism to avoid collapse?

I always love the argument that the USSR wasn't practicing 'true' communism - or something to the effect. Amazes me that some people still wanna give that communism thing ago after all 'with proper funding it still might work, right?'
