Hi there i'm redesigning my old website and i finally have enough up to show what it can do. for now i sugest you use IE to look at it but it should work fine in other browser. after loooking at it i would very much apreciate your feedback on what could be inproved and how.

a little background on the site before you go:
there are absolutely no tables
only 5 html pages which will soon be just one
and the whole site as it is is under 5 megs

OK i have my site now working like its suposed to let me give you a few details about it's design.

total html files- 1
CSS based- yes
XML dased- yes
_javascript- yes
Tables- Not even one

site completion 50%
The point of this design was to one not have to load multiple pages and just
my site is meant to be basically top of the line no asp or php here its all ajax invoques and css absolute positioning. as of now the site is mainly for IE but i'm working a on a new style sheet for the other browsers.

I like the background imagery. I think you are doing quite well actually.

okay so here is a brief update on my quest to build this site.

first of all the whole idea was to create a site that was dynamic and you could do more than just browse the content. so in order to make it a little more interactive what i have donne is provided the user with a certain amount of control over the wole site.

for one you can change the appearance of the whole site just by pressing a number key, however this feature is in the beta phase and i still have to create 2 more color scheemes for the site.

the entire site is built with css and xml there is only one html file and thats the index file from where you can load everything you can click on.

the files that load are xml files and there are no tables in any part of the site . as a matter of fact that was also part of the whole idea so everything is done with div's and absolute positioning, however there seems to be some problems with other browsers which will be address when i get the site running in IE properly most of the problems is due in part to the browser companies not following the stardarts like they are suposed to.

so if you dont mind i would like you guys to look around and tell me what you think about the site.:w::w:

Pretty nice. I like the music player. My only negative opinion would be that the background has dark and light colors. It's going to be hard to read some of the text no matter what color it is.

There are some things I like and some things I do not like.

I think the general look is good, with the translucid text over the image and the black background.

The things I don't like:
1 - I don't like too many moving things, and you have text scrolling from right to left and a rotating image. That is too much for me, especially the scrolling text, most people tend to avoid it now.
2 - The menu bar at the bottom of the page is hard to read, red over blue is not the best option.
3 - Some pages do not have a background for the text, so it becomes invisible over simillar coloured areas ofo the background.
4 - Having an image on the background is good if we are looking at text, but an image over an image gives some strange results and I think you should not use it.
5 - You have at least two areas with the same menu name that show different information. When we click the "UDF Database" menu on the home page we see a page, when we click the "Database" menu on the "UDF Archive" we get a different page for what appears to be the same thing, judging by their names.
6 - By not using HTML pages you have lost two important things, the possibility of going back and forward and the way of showing that a page is being loaded, when I click on a link I do not have a way of knowing if I must wait for a page to appear or if that link is not working.

Also, I found some errors:
1 - On the "UDF Database" page, you have "realease" instead of "release"
2 - On the "Video Sevices" page your first error is the name on the menu, I suppose it should have been "Video Services". Bellow I show the text with the errors highlighted, I think it's easier.

Chronostar Graphics is a new branch of our domain, and trough it we offer a variety of video services. We can create anything from from Proffessional quality video editing, all the way down to audio archiving and we use DVD media for all of our projects. In this section you can find information on our prices, a catalog of standart (standard) styles or how you can create a custom made production.

3 - On the "Web Design" page you have "dont" instead of "don't".
4 - On the "History" page:

When i first begun this endeavour, it started just as a little comic book book. Over time with the experience i gained from creating all of the graphics and the different versions of the homepage for it, things kinda just started growing from there, and soon people were asking me to do small projects for them. Eventually i decided that i should make my project a little more formal so this gave birth to Chronostar Graphics. The idea is to be able to provide a few services like Web Design, Graphic Arts, Video Editing and hte Chronostar Graphic novel. This is the latest version of our website, and i'm making it in a way that it will make it easy for everyone to use it, and access all of the stuff that i have planned on releasing for it.

5 - On the "UDF Archive" page:

Welcome dear visitor here you will find all the information you need to know about the Chronostar Universe, please feel free to look around, however be forewarened The Chronostar Universe is a property of Chronostar Graphics downloading images for profit is not allowed, you may use any image that is available for download in our multimedia page but the rest are off limits. Please do not try to imitate anything you see our characters doing you might get hurt or worse, and if you spot any mistakes on our website please point them out so we can fix them. other than that have fun and enjoy.

6 - On the "Library" page from the "UDF Archive":

CHRONOS
This sotry deals with the origin of Chronos and his struggle to save the Earth from being invaded by an alien race

I do not have time to search for more and those errors are just small things that do not have anything to do with the design of the site.

Good luck!

I know I got a little carried away with the error spotting, but that is one of the things I do everyday at work, so it has become a natural reaction.

PS: speaking of errors, my screen name is "ArMaP".

I hate ads on the top of any website. Is there anyway you could move that down to the bottom? It's hard to read the text without proper spacing in between paragraphs. I don't like dark themes; so maybe have an option for light themes. Good luck.

Well, you asked for it, so here goes.

1. I hate scrolling text, its not easy to read (especially with such small sized letters) and forces us to wait for the rest of the text if we do not start reading from the beginning.

2. The scrolling text has an error, "WOLRD" instead of "WORLD".

3. The text does not appear in the same way in Internet Explorer and Opera/Firefox. The colours do not look the same and are even harder to read on Opera and Firefox than on Internet Explorer. The alignment is not correct either on Opera and Firefox.

4. Double scroll bars are a thing to avoid, when you have the mouse inside the inner scroll area and reach the end the scroll "spreads" to the outer scroll area, scrolling the rest of the page.

5. Both the CSS and the HTML do not pass the W3C validator tests, something that I always do before publishing a site (it may look like I have made many sites, but in fact I have made only two or three, all of them very simple).

6. I know that there are fewer people with a 640x480 screen, but I like web pages that resize themselves to every resolution.

In conclusion, nothing really bad, I think you are in the right way.

Keep working, practice makes perfect (most of the times
).

thank you and the rest of ya'll i really apreciate your feedback i will let you know when i updatye this site again.

the thing about it is that i am never satisfied with my site and i'm always changing it around and i've decided to only focus in 800-600 resolutions for the time being.

the reason for this has more to do with publishing than coding. what does this have to do with my possitioning you may ask. well i try to make sure that the site looks the same on ie and ff i dont worry much about the rest since opera is only used by my non-target audience. i tried opera a while back and hated it i miss those days sniff sniff.

anyway the look i'm going for is more magazine layout but since my site has many different areas that have to be added i still have a lot of work to do on it.

if you look at the old one at chronostar.275mb.com you will see just what kinds of improvements i have made.

in future updates i will enable the user to change the stylesheet to his/her pleasure totally re-arranging the site with the click of a mouse.

about the scrolling text its just something thats kinda stuck with my site since its inception to kinda give it a more lively feel to it.
