Airplane hijacking policy around the 1970's became one of sit back and relax and the hijackers will be dealt with when they land. Very socialist don't take or exhibit any individual action just sit back relax and let the gov't take care of you. We know how well that worked. If the policies had different, and our gov't and their main stream media sycophants had done their job before the incident the outcome would have been different. The worst we could have lost is 4 airplanes and not 4 airplanes and 2 buildings. Maybe only 1 airplane.

Paraphrasing Margaret Thatcher - Socialism works until they run out of other peoples money.

Socialism as a form of gov't is a crime against humanity - people who promote or practice it as a for of gov't should be tried for "crimes against humanity."

Dude,

I like the way you think. I also like Maggie Thatcher for having a hard bark. Never knew she said that about socialism. My hats off to her.

I have been thinking for some time now that someone out here wants to turn us into something very like Britian. No thanks. Not interested.

In the end it is indeed a crime against Humanity. Britian is right now reeling under many of the decisions of socialist governments. Many of the British problems are carefully kept out of our news and information outlets through the MSM. Amazing to me how big a paper curtain can be held over a "free " people.

I am glad to see alot of the states turning against the Federal Government policies and moneys with strings attached. About time the states pulled their heads out of their backsides and realized how much of a drug habit such moneys and policies can be.

I think it wont be long before gun rights are under full onslaught. Much worse than they currently are. I will be slow and subtle at first..but eventually to full blown onslaught.

Thanks,
Orangetom

I dare say ATG8DAchop that your logic is flawed at best. It is an unfair proposition to assume that all of us law abiding citizens who wish to posses a AK-47 are maniacs. The general public seems to forget that we are merely exercising our second amendment right There are those of us who respect firearms and enjoy using them safely. We are not contributing to street crime or violence nor are we supplying criminals with guns. You may not like the fact that the constitution of the United States of America guarantees my right to own weapons, but you must respect it. Just as I respect your first amendment right to disagree with my opinion. However they were both equally valued by our founding fathers and I dare say that compromising one is compromising the other. They are both fabrics cut from the same cloth. You cannot merely have the civil liberties you choose. You must accept them all or have none. You may not think that an assault riffle such as an Ak-47 has any practical purpose in our modern world. I would like to share with you a story about a friend of mine. His name was Sean Taylor. He and I attended the same high school and had been friends for many years. He was an NFL star, a devoted father, a loving son and a beautiful person. On June 3rd 2005 he was questioned in connection to an aggravated assault case involving firearms. Although he was cleared of any wrongdoing the incident was enough to shake the new father into giving up his gun collection. Although he was not required to do so by law. He sold all of his firearms. On november 26 2007 Sean made an unexpected visit to his Miami home during the NFL season. His plan was to rest and recover for a few days from a football related injury. At approximately 1:45 Am 4 armed intruders entered Sean's house. They were unaware he was home. Sean barricaded himself in his room with his girlfriend and 18 month old daughter. The intruders searched Sean's house for valuables. When they got to his room they discovered the door was locked and they proceeded to break it down. They were surprised when they saw Sean since they expected no one to be home. Acting what was surely out of fear and instinct they fired several shots one of which struck Sean's femoral artery (just above the right thigh). His daughter and girlfriend witnessed this. The intruder fled after shooting Sean. He lost consciousness in his girlfriends arms as she franticly called 911. He died shortly after from blood loss in a nearby hospital. It breaks my heart to think that if he had never sold his firearms there would have been a drastically different outcome. At times a pistol or bolt action rifle is not enough to ensure your safety. In order to properly defend himself Sean would have needed a firearm like an AK-47. It is not always in war time that civilians need high powered weapons to defend themselves. There is a very real and practical need. I believe that ever person has a right to defend themselves and their family. I dare say that it is a man's duty to be prepared to protect his family even in the most dire of situations. For all these reasons and many more I choose to exercise my second amendment right. I keep my AK loaded an easily accessible so in the unlikely event of a home invasion I do not end up another statistic like my dear friend Sean. I ask you to consider what you would do in Sean's position. Would you run? Would you hide? Would you not wish in the heat of the moment that you yourself were armed at least as well as the criminals coming into your house to steal not just your property but your life?

Sincerely, A law abiding citizen and avid gun owner

I purchased one of these a short while ago.
I do have a couple of thoughts.
I am not at all disappointed.
It is exactly what I expected.
I noticed that the bolt carrier where it attaches to the gas piston had a shoulder, and tended to hang up when you closed the bolt slowly, although worked fine in the field.
I took a fine file and made the attachment shoulder smooth, polished it with very fine Waterproof sandpaper, then also sanded the sharp stamped edge off the gas piston chamber, re-blued everything.
Now the action is silky smooth!
My thought is this may be the problem that some people are having with hang ups.
Now it is what it should have been. Silky and smooth.
I also applied a very Thin layer of Never Seize to the bolt carrier, moving parts etc. Works much better than gun oil without attracting dirt.
I did not like the look of the blonde wood, so I painted it black after re-sanding and smoothing it.
Later I might get a synthetic one, when I find a look I like. I do not like all the rails and details etc. on most of them.
The stock was too short for me, so I made a stock extension that added another 3 inches of pull and added a butt recoil pad. I looked at different stocks, but they are all pretty much the same size as standard, No good for me.
I would have preferred a longer barrel, 2" would probably make a difference in accuracy, but cost prohibits those kind of changes. As a whole, it is what it is, and I am satisfied.
Under Eastern European Production, there is no time for this kind of detail. It reminds me of those old Bicycle Instructions: "Some Assembly Required."

The AK is definitely my favorite rifle. I have several and for the price I love my Sagia. Really nice shooter. Also like the Yugo M70 a lot. Better quality then the WASR IMO. But the best is my Pre ban Chinese Norinco, Awesome. Not a big fan of the WASR.

I have a wasr and I love it!
It is ugly and rough just like me.
I didn't buy the damned thing to win beauty pageants with.
I bought it for defense........and fun.

I haven't had ANY problems with it. It has never jammed on me.
It goes BANG!!!
I can hit my target!!!
If I wanted a sniper rifle I would have bought one.
If I wanted a .223 cambered rifle I would have just saved my money and bought a B.B. Gun.
This is a great rifle and Iove it.

I would have preferred a longer stock and will eventually get one.
It is just too uncomfortable for me because these things are very short weapons.

But, don't listen to all of the pretty boys with their cute little opinions about how much the wasrs suck.
I would take my wasr anyday over ANY AR!!!!

I own an AK Wasr-10/63. It is very reliable. I am very happy with it. It was in impulse purchase some years back and since then I have updated it with a quad rail, new handle and new buttstock. Works like a dream. Very accurate. I haven't had any jams and have fired a few thousand rounds through her.

Here is what she currently looks like:

I also have an Aimpoint Comp M3 which I sometimes use on this gun, but I've always been more of an iron sights shooter.

I currently own an Arsenal SGL21 and love it. It is a tighter fitting AK built of the AK74 platform but is sweet nonetheless. WASR 10s are pretty hit and miss from what I have read and heard from friends that own them. They can range from complete garbage to the best shooting, most reliable rifle you could have. From what I have heard, J and G sales (jgsales dot com) have really nice WASR 10/63 that they stock and they pretty much weed out the trash so you don't end up with a Frankenstein AK. And they only cost about $430. I am going to pick one up soon, too.

Very nice rifle. I was wondering what quad rail you have? I was looking at getting the Midwest Industries universal quad rail as I have seen it has a very good heat shield.

MANIACS!

Uhoh, someone left the door open and let the Brits in again.......

Our "rampant killing" doesn't seem to stop countless plane loads of them arriving every day, unfortunately. One of life's many annoyances.

As for your AK choice, they all work, but if you have the $ I would strongly recommend an Arsenal, they really are worth the extra.

*SIGH* Yea, it those Brits again!!!!

Not only are they so spineless that they are completely disarmed , but NOW they are being INVADED by foreigners, who are at this very moment are trying (and SUCCEEDING) in changing the whole Brits way of life and forcing them to SUBMIT to their laws and beliefs!!!!

And with all this going on, WHAT DO THE BRITS WASTE THEIR TIME ON??? They waste it on internet forums posting their ignorant anti-gun 2 cents in on every firearm post whining about how 'wrong' Americans are for using their freedom to defend themselves!!!

Hey Brits, dont you have BETTER things to do with your energy and time??!!! Your freedoms are GONE, and your homeland is being invaded and all you do is stick your nose into American gun discussions to gripe about our FREEDOMS. Freedoms that you all have LOST and now you cant even defend yourselves!!!!!!

How pathetic!!!

Spineless Brits

That is from Ultimak. It is actually 2 parts. The top rail is one piece that fits over the gas tube. The second piece is a 3-rail handguard replacement.

As far as heat goes, I have fired as much as 120 rounds through the rifle back to back and the rails are plenty cool. I am happy with the investment. If you get the parts from them directly, it will cost you around $300. But if you browse around, you can probably find them somewhere else cheaper.
