I would like to start a thread on Presidential Dirt.

As everyone knows the second anyone decides to run for President, out comes the dirt. This is that thread.

I urge everyone one of you to pull up dirt on each one of these candidates that contradicts what their platform says. I know at some point in their ATS life they must have a post that will come back to haunt them.

Well, as a candidate, I suppose I'll add some dirt on myself.

Up until spring of '05 I held many different views than I do now.

I've also made some controversial threads, including one about
extermination of Islam, however I was not advocating that, it was simply
a a hypothetical scenario, to see where everyone stood.

So when you replied to the thread What is all this about stopping the Iraq War? on 2/17/2007 and you said

Excuse me, but why in the hell would we want to take over the Middle East, not only is it a giant worthless hto sandbox full of psychotic religious zealots

You didn't really mean that?

Well, it is a gian sandbox, and there are alot of pyschotic religious zealots.

Does'nt mean I'm gonna call for a crusade or anything.

I just want to make this very clear...

I did not have relations with that woman, (I wanted to) but I did not have relations with that woman.

It all depends on what your deffinition of the word is is.

So do we realy need to air all the dirty laundry from candidates past threads? what exactly is that going to accomplish? This site is full of quite contrivercial topics.

Hmmm, iori took it rather well WUK. Some things in your past your not so proud of? You can always say, I didn't inhale!

As far as what this will accomplish. We may catch a few of our candidates contradicting themselves. Sure views may change over time, but do we really want a candidate that "flip-flops" his views? Seems like I might've heard that somewhere before???

In a real presidential race the candidates are vetted. That means that their lives ... all of it .. comes under a microscope. What they have said on the record, definately would be looked at for signs of flip-flopping and/or misrepresentation of self (lies) during the race.

This race is supposed to be 'no mud slinging' ... so I don't know if the mods would consider bringing up a candidates statements to be 'mud slinging' or vetting. I consider it vetting and necessary ... but it would be up to the mods to decide.

What ever do you mean? I don't think that there is anything that I have submited to this board that I cannot take responsibility for.

(the dancing video is going to haunt me isnt it?)

I am one of the post politically incorrect posters here at ATS! Enjoy going about my post. All nearly 2000 post at that! Though I do not see the point, anything can be taken out of context, I prefer a clean race and will try my best not to insult other runners.

This should be fun. Like someone else already said, though, sometimes our views change. Personally, I think electing someone who can't be persuaded by a solid argument and overwhelming evidence is a bit daft, but that's just me. I consider my ability to change my mind an asset, rather than a liability. However, I think most of the views in my platform are upheld by my past posting. I'll be more than happy to answer any vetting though.

Like they say, Bad Press is better than No Press, so vett away!

Oh right, since I just thought of this I'll admit right now, I have and
do support some incredibly controversial issues, some of which only
one or two other people even agree with me on.

I am not a fan of political correctness, so I don't always act in ways
that may be considered to be politically correct.

Really? Someone running as a candidate for the Socialist Party for the American Presidency might have controversial points of view?

It's quite alright, Iori. Differing ideals are what this country was founded upon, and if it weren't for people disagreeing, it'd be tyranny. Good luck to you and God bless.

Hopefully we here at ATS know our social conduct and could do so with tact.

I'm not meaning this to be an attack on any of the candidates, just a questioning ground of past statements and values. Plus it gives the voters a chance to know the candidate better and to see who they really are not just what they say they are (everyone knows politicians lie).

Enjoy going about my post. All nearly 2000 post at that!

I look forward to it, good thing I have plenty of time. I've looked at iori's past posts pretty extensively (still more to go) and I like what I see so far. I like that I will get the chance to know who I am voting for and what their attitude is. You don't want a President with a bad attitude.

Personally, I think electing someone who can't be persuaded by a solid argument and overwhelming evidence is a bit daft, but that's just me.

True, we do need a President that can accept new ideas and be open, but we want a confident President who can build upon his own skills using the help of others rather then change their mind continously in the course of their term. What if you vote them in for a belief/view then they decide to change their mind.

Thumbs up to iori for admitting past mistakes.
Thumbs up to WUK for not being afraid of who he really is, a dancing machine!

I refuse to apologize for believeing what I do.

If a man and his horse want to to have relations, than damnit they
shou...wait, what was I doing again?

You're right, not past mistakes, just past differences that others might not agree with.

Well sure, I think that's a reasonable request. If I say I'm going into office with a desire to improve education across the entire U.S., then I damned well better do it.

On the flip side, if one's strategy in war has been a complete and utter disaster, it is time to admit one's mistakes and adapt a new strategy with some fresh intelligent thought.

My gramps had a saying, "don't confuse cussedness for conviction." Both have their place, but not always at the same time.

Oh fun, dirt on candidates.

Well I suppose I should say now that as I've continued to learn and grow as a person I've changed ideological stances a couple of times. Once in favor of a military dictatorship, once a communist, once a libertarian, I think I've finally found my calling as an independent seeking to form the Pirate Party.

Okay... dirt? I don't believe in that nonsense. I do not really lie to anyone and I would not lie to gain more voters. However-- that incident where Simongray had to ban someone in one of my threads may come back to haunt me, he even moved the thread from the message board help section to the general conspiracy theories and discussion group of the website of ATS.com. It may come back to haunt me... but you never know. Other then that I have had a clean record.

That could not possibly haunt you, it was not your idea for having a complete moron start spouting of nonsense.

Well...*clears thought*

When I was 17, I was a proud communist with the Red flag on my wallpaper. Was a member of the Young Communist League, the Youth Wing of the communist party..

Now, I see myself as centre-right with Liberal values.

And, on some occasions, I have lost my cool on this board and have let certain members get under my skin. When that happens, you should just my put them on ignore or (if you have no spaces left) just ignore them and get a mod (if its against T&C)

Instead of doing that, I have basically "stuck the knife in" on some members and if they reply I will "twist and twist" until that member back downs. That will only happen if false things are being sad about my country or a topic I am strong about.
