Helicopters over Manhattan

I'm looking out my window and see a helicopter hovering close overhead and earlier it looked like it was using a searchlight. I just heard a bunch of sirens too...is anything going on?

They earlier arrested around 200 illegal immigrants at some touristy restaurants in NYC, perhaps this is part of that?

Being NYC though, as you well know, anything is possible.

That's a possibility, but I think that was further downtown, I'm on the Upper West Side.

My doorman said the police were chasing someone, plus I heard someone jumped out of their 11 story apartment to commit suicide just a couple blocks up from me. So I'm not sure what it was.

I guess just another normal day in NYC...

That is quite the interesting series of events.

Living in Ottawa, CSIS black helicopters are a common thing to see moving slowly over the city. You kind of half expect one to be hovering somewhere in the city on an average day. Not so much in the winter... but hey, who wants to patroll a city from up there in the winter anyways?

They have been very active in Brooklyn with those damn copters. Sometimes you know something big is going on when they have some sort of mode that keeps them in one position going round and round in a big circle while the light stays locked on the target. Very aggravating in the middle of the night.

I had a helicopter outside my home at night once, with a flashlight, damn those things are powerful, lits up the whole street, i heard neighbours calling out someones name, so they must have been looking for a lost kid, still pretty odd thou, to get a helicopter, it was like a scene from a hostage movie or something.

I've had a couple of helicopters with flash lights circling over my area before. They were obviously police helicopters, but I live in a very quite suburb of London, so it was quite strange.
