If anybody hasn't noticed this year many families are

stuggling to make it through Christmas. Prices have

shot up ever since 9/11. The worst of it comes from

President Bush, who just gave 8 billion dollars to Iraq. If

your a kid reading this go easy on your parents this

year. Not to mention Christmas trees are almost near

$80 in NC. Bush is the worst President every, he has

undone hundreds of years of laws. The enviroment is

aweful. Noting that I am only 13 my dad asked what big

ticket Item I would like, with a maximum of $200. With a

new year coming and all we don't know what to expect.

Most families are so poor because most money went to

operations in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. This all is stupid,

money should be donated to us. WE ARE WHAT MAKE

AMERICA (if you have anymore info please reply).

So are you saying that if we hadn't gone to war with Iraq, the government would have spent that money on christmas presents for poor people?

Are you saying that if the US does not deal with threats to its existance that it can hope to hang on to what it has in the future?

It's totally sad when I hear about children/families with nithing to give for Christmas. I try to make it a habit to donate but, like everyone else, things are rough for us too.

We have a minimum wage, how 'bout a maximum wage?

It was a senseless war to begin with. They spent all that money just to find Saddam living in a hole. So what is the point.

What does that have to do with poor people still being poor for christmas?

Why? You want to know why their are poor families this Christmas? That's simple. The Government. They don't care about us. They taking our money (taxes) and using for their own personal benefits.

Um...If you're making less then $20,000 a year, how much do you pay in taxes? Oh, wait, you don't have to pay taxes? Huh. That damn government! They keep stealing the poor's money, so they can't have christmas! Oh, wait, I think I may see a flaw in that logic...

Does it make me bad if I am? I'm not seeing this villany being caused to the poor y'all are. Yes, there are poor, and yes, it's Christmas. We, as individuals, can help individuals, too. How much have you given to charities this year? This month? How many bums have you seen on the street so you gave them some cash, or some food?

Why should we rely on the government to help our fellow man, while we walk by and do nothing? Our government is, after all, of the people...

Doesn't this really reflect on the situation, in Bethlehem, 2000-odd years ago? I'm *not* trying to be funny, but "the poor have always been amongst us" - why should 2003 be any different (unfortunately).

Yes you have a point, but isn't our taxes supposed to produce jobs? If so, then why don't poor people have jobs? Sorry, I wasn't being clear. My point is our taxes aren't helping the poor put money in their pockets.

For starters, many can make more money on welfare then trying to work a part time job and raise their children. Also, no, taxes aren't supposed to produce jobs. Taxes are to create revenue for our government to be a government. Taxes are to build roads. Taxes are to maintain defense. Taxes are to pay our civil servents. Taxes are to buy things only our government can afford to invest in, such as Nasa. AND they're used for government programs, some of which attempt to create jobs.

Why don't the poor join the army? You can join all the way until you're 35, so there's a definate job you could have...

Of course not. Thats the problem.

cant win a war without money dummy

We shouldn't be fighting this war to begin with....dummy.

Are you saying that if the US does not deal with threats to its existance that it can hope to hang on to what it has in the future?

At the time the war began Iraq was not a threat. That was an excuse for George Warmonger Bush to further his NWO agenda.

That money shuold be used to make america better. We're going down the toilets. We're losing more and more jobs daily. Our poverty rates have to be skyrocketing. We should make America better before we go pushing our lifestyles on every third world country out there.

I would have to say JUNGLEJAKE has it right.

Anyway...if Christmas means sooo much to some of you then you don't know the real reason for Christmas...it's not about presents. What does the government have to do with christmas anyway? That's the problem, everyone wants help in the form of useless programs for everything from the government then complain that taxes are too high! Most don't even pay taxes, but get "refunds" that are just a redistribution of the rest of our hard earned money. In england everyone pays 40% in taxes...that's twice what I pay here.

Hehe....well said....

Be thankful you even GET something worth $200... I'm not that old, but I never got anything worth more than $50 for Christmas...and THAT was my big ticket item...hehe....

Though Bush is an idiot..he isn't to blame if you don't get a new X-Box, etc.

This year Christmas will be light for us though, but because we're sinking so much into a wedding....so it's a matter of priorities....
