Good question, but having the tools to solve the questions of the various aspects of culture would mean knowing something else about how they exist.
We don't often carry our homes with us on our various missions to foreign countries, we hardly have any of the amenities aboard when we disembark.
We either stay in suites on ships and hotel rooms, or barracks, tents or whatever else have you. Most of the time, when we go somewhere, we expect to
garner some of what we need or want from the environment around us. If you run out of toothpaste on your way to France, stop at a drug store and pick
up some Crest.
... then again, a culture that lives on world-ships or generation-ships probably would differ drastically from planet-bound beings...
so many things are possible; aliens could be humans with advanced secret techologies, people from other planets, figments of our imagination or all of
the above or none of the above (maybe they're from deep in the caves of Earth).
Look within if you want some answers, and be more open to studying cultural differences, here, on Earth.
