Challenge Riddle

I often do more harm than good;
If once I get the upper hand,
I never fear a champion's frown;


that just clicked when I looked back at it. its alcohol of some kind. maybe beer since I know beer kegs are made of wood. Alcohol fears no frown, and usually does more harm then good.

If I am wrong then I give up as thats the only other thing that makes ANY sense to me whatsoever.

thank you my friend for being the third person out of 30+ who have answered it correctly (after having answered incorrectly once or twice). I have good faith that nobody told you and that you figured it out on your own. I say so because two other people did it as well.

Now I must think up a new witty riddle that will piss off many, and make some think harder.
