It is now being reported that possibly one half of the Sunni Muslim bombers are coming from Syria. Accusations of "participation" are being directed away from the Iraqi populous, as far as being "insurgents".

www.msnbc.msn.com
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - The Iraqi government said Sunday that half the Sunni Muslim militants behind the bombings shaking the country had arrived through neighboring Syria.

The United States and Iraqi officials have long accused Iraq’s neighbors, particularly Syria and Iran, of failing to stop Islamic militants from crossing into Iraq to carry out attacks.

“We have confirmation that 50 percent of these takfiris and killers who call themselves Arab jihadists come across the Syrian border,” Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told Al Arabiya TV, referring to radical Sunnis whose ideology brands some Muslims as infidels and allows their killing.

As President Bush made clear in his State of the Union address, Syria is a "target", along with Iran, of aiding the insurgency in Iraq. Being confirmed that up to half of the "insurgents" are coming from Syria, this now leaves open a 3 sided war that President Bush must take head on.

Like the article says "Syria knows if a bird flies over the golan" which we know the Golan is Israeli occupied therefore important to Syrias security, then why shouldn't the Iraqis be conccerned and monitor those areas which may be weak as the Syrians do to protect their interests? Why blame it on the Syrians when they are wasting billions of $ on BS they can get themselves some sort of system to look for birds over the syrian border. Can't they? Seems to me they are just looking for something to complain about .

Are you saying that Iraq should be responsible for ensuring their border is "safe" or "insurgent free"?

I agree, Iraq should be responsible for their own borders, however, that doesn't take away the fact that this article is about Syria being blamed for 1/2 the insurgents coming into Iraq.

Think about what you pointed out. Syria knows "if a bird flys over Golan"... Syria is watching very closely another border, to ensure nothing "comes in", but they're incapable of making sure nothing goes out?

All I'm pointing out is that Bush and Co. are looking for an excuse to hold someone accountable for their reasoning to further themselves into a deeper war with wider borders.
