Good point C-Master.The thing that irks me the most is how fast they got rid of all that scrap. The question that comes to my mind is,Is the gov. hiding something? Why no thorough investigation?

There were investigations, and they showed that the towers fell because the steel was weakened, and the weight of the structure caused progressive collapse. We investigated the people that were on the planes, and found out that 19 were al-qaida agents who had been training on flight simulators.

Wasn't one truck driver hauling the steel from ground zero fired for stopping to get a bite to eat?If this is true someone wanted the evidence to go away quickly.
Some 185,101 tons of structural steel have been hauled away from Ground Zero. Most of the steel has been recycled as per the city's decision to swiftly send the wreckage to salvage yards in New Jersey. The city's hasty move has outraged many victims' families who believe the steel should have been examined more thoroughly. Last month, fire experts told Congress that about 80% of the steel was scrapped without being examined because investigators did not have the authority to preserve the wreckage.
The bulk of the steel was apparently shipped to China and India. The Chinese firm Baosteel purchased 50,000 tons at a rate of $120 per ton, compared to an average price of $160 paid by local mills in the previous year.
Mayor Bloomberg, a former engineering major, was not concerned about the destruction of the evidence
The pace of the steel's removal was very rapid, even in the first weeks after the attack. September 29, 130,000 tons of debris -- most of it apparently steel -- had been removed.

This is an interesting photo.
Why would they have cleaned the debris from WTC 7 before they "pulled" WTC 6 and demolished WTC 5? 5 & 6 could have contributed to the debris of 7. That means they would have had to clean that area twice instead of just once if they demolished 5 & 6 before cleaning 7. Also, why would they have cleaned up WTC 7's debris before WTC 1 and 2? 1 & 2 could have had survivors but they decide to clean WTC 7 first? BTW, no one was in 7 when it collapsed, so therefore the rescue mission couldn't be the answer. I'm stumped on that one.
Edit: I know people are going to say "well you can see that they are clearing WTC 1". My point is, why didn't they make sure that they cleared 1 & 2 (just in case of survivors) before even starting clearing 7? Is it because of the street? I wouldn't think so because the whole area wasn't accessible to begin with, so why the need for the road if no cars could drive on it anyway?
Edit 2: This photo is very telling to me that they wanted to get rid of the debris (evidence) from 7 even before fully trying to rescue people. How sad.

Nygdan, please review the following thread, which I titled What investigation?.
There is a video there that lays out the fact, and it is a fact, that there would have been no 911 commission were it not for the 'Jersey girls'.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 24, 2001 -- The FBI assumed crime-scene jurisdiction at the Pentagon terrorist attack site Sept. 21 from the Arlington County (Va.) Fire Department, officials said.
FBI officials estimate the crime scene investigation would last about a month, Arlington Fire Chief Edward P. Plaugher said. He said he expects "additional remains will be discovered during the course of the FBI investigation" and mortuary specialists will remain on site to process them.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 26, 2001 -- The FBI handed over Pentagon crash site management to the Army Military District of Washington at 7 a.m. today.
The transfer of responsibility marks the end of the FBI's crime scene investigation following the Sept. 11 terrorist attack against the Pentagon. MDW will oversee ongoing security operations around the damaged area of the building. FBI investigators will move their operations to the Pentagon's north parking lot and continue to sift through debris for more evidence.
Who did have the authority?
