The Iranian Trap

That is an interesting article, for sure. Recommended reading folks. Well linked and sourced, although some of those sources are pretty questionable. But then again, what sources aren't these days.

Many of the points Dennis brings up in his article have been discussed here before, but the way he ties it all together paints a pretty grim picture. It very well could be a trap, and again I reiterate, in agreement with Dennis, that Russia and China may not take a sideline to an attack on Iran.

Where I disagree with him a bit is on the issue of who will do the attacking. I started a thread here about that a few days ago:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

In my mind, it's looking to me like Israel will do it with the US in more of an assisting/defensive role at first, because I really believe that Israel will attack Iran regardless of any other country's interests. But that's just me, and few here seem to agree.

I have had a bad feeling about the Iranian thing, especially since the testing of the anti-ship missles and what happen to the Israeli ship off the coast of Lebanon!

I think our air craft carriers could be sitting ducks in the persian gulf, we should redeploy!

Yikes, very scarry!

Yep Mel.

Another thing that was curious was the Ex-CIA saying that he believes that Iran already has a limited quanity of nuclear-tipped Onyx missiles. The minute I read that, the memory of Iran's President saying "Israel will soon be destroyed in a flash," or something close to that, came to my mind. And combine that with the other economic reasons pointed out in that thread, and I mean the possibilities of this escalating quickly are downright frightening.

Whether it is a trap, and the Sino-Russian alliance is waiting for the West to fire first on Iran, does it really matter?

Either way, it's going to be a clusterf***. That whole thread is real good over at that site, and thank you for bringing it here, Mel.

Don't be so hasty, isn't an Armageddon what many are salivating for and waiting to happen in the middle east.

This whole thing may have some religious implications also.

Many are waiting very eagerly for that mushroom cloud to claim the end of the world.

I am not joking either but an escalated war that will take other nations in the middle east and Europe will bring many to start getting ready for the biblical rapture.

A little rapture would help de-populate the surplus of religious zeolots! Not meaning to sound like scrouge, but I am not going down without a fight!

Hasty, marg? Hardly. 1 chess move at a time over a period of many, many years has brought the board to a stalemate. There won't be any winners here.

Salivating for Armaggedon? Ohhh, you must be referring to Bush and the rulers of Iran.

Someone needs to take all the Republicans in Congress (and any stray Dems) and the White House staff, along with the whole hardline Iranian rulership, and shove them all into a big ring at Madison Square Garden for a fists only free for all. I wonder if Cheney would have the heart for it. You suppose the Israelis would want tickets?

The US Dollar is going to get cripled anyhow, even without Iran in the calculations, the only way to give the $ any stability is for another war, which is ofcourse, the only bussiness the governments really care about.

A link to a peak oil site, very little discussion of the topic, boring. How is Iran a trap? Let's get a discussion going, not another "this guy has a phD." BS

Did you read the article? I think it is quit telling and filled with facts and links. It appears the Iranians are not a pushover and have used their money to buy advanced weapons to defend themselves from a potential US attack. The weapons they have purchased or developed appear to match the offensive capabilities of the US, not to mention the Persian Gulf is a very confining area for military action, that is how I see it.

To think being a communist used be deviant. Oh yeah cuba's a communist country, and with the US trade embargo is a lot safer than the US --> no guns and no illegal drugs being exported from the US to Cuba. Cubans are very proud of the fact that no civillian can carry a firearm. I know that I was recently there. Standard of living is relative.

I think not having the right to bear arms simply makes you a sheeple, like so many in Cuba. Castro and his cronnies can use terror and not worry about revolt! It will be interesting to see how the communist paradise you praise so much fares after Castro's death!

In relevance to the current topic discussion I think you should refer to some of the following writeup by the late Joe Vialls from his website. Very detailed and informative reading -

IRAN & SYRIA ARMED WITH S-300 MISSILES

By mid-2004 it was too late to respond meaningfully, because it was suddenly announced that Russia, China, India and Brazil had formally entered into the most powerful coalition on the face of the earth, literally surrounding both America and the Jewish State with a lethal ring of sophisticated weapons.

In reference to Iran and Syria having the Onyx and Sunburn missiles-

At the tactical level, these weapons are equally useful. American foreign policy has been getting dangerously close to Iran and Syria during the last two years, and both sovereign states are now equipped with either Sunburn or Onyx, both of which are nuclear capable. So if America is stupid enough to attack Iran, it will almost certainly lose at least one Carrier battle group in the Persian Gulf to these unstoppable weapons, making the odds too high.

CHINA BACKS IRAN AGAINST THE GREAT SATAN

Combine China's recent Iranian energy mega-deal with Vladimir Putin's new strategic

RUSSIA READY TO VAPORIZE JEWISH STATE

About one month ago, Russia discreetly invoked MAD again, but this time in the Middle East in direct response to hysterical Israeli threats to nuke Iran with submarine-launched American Harpoon missiles. Quietly and with the minimum of fuss, Russia deployed its most advanced tactical nuclear missiles and crews to both Syria and Iran, thereby sending an unmistakable diplomatic signal that if Israel attacked Tehran or Damascus with nuclear weapons, Russia would in return instantly and anonymously vaporize the Jewish State.

Deterrent choice for the Middle East was easy, because the Russians already knew the Americans were frightened of the SS-N-22, which the U.S. Navy actually tried to purchase from the Russian Navy in September 1995. In a letter reproduced at the bottom of this page, Vice Admiral Bowes wrote to Russian Commander in Chief Admiral Gromov, “I appreciate the opportunity to convey to you the United States Navy’s interest in acquiring all variants of the SS-N-22 ‘Sunburn’ Anti-Ship Supersonic Ship-to-Ship missile for test and evaluation”. America’s naked fear of this unstoppable weapon was thus laid bare, but Russia predictably refused to sell

It was a very interesting, and yet, somewhat scary article to think of what Bush will do. He probably doesn't even see the possibilities of the US going to war and losing.
