Id also include the Ural mountains on that list. And South Africa would be fine as well and id take Indonesia over Australia. And last on the list New Zealand probably the best choice of them all.

I had a dream once that aliens took me with them and told me Earth would not be safe for me,
and asked if I wanted to stay with them they would take me to a new world.I said it was too difficult to say goodbye already and I would wait until they would come and pick me up when the time was right.
I woke up feeling disappointed in myself for not going. But since then I still dream about them sometimes and they
seem to be coming more often and also during the day, at airports and other places where difficulties/problems are arising.I know this might not seem to have anything to so with the topic of safest place on Earth,
but to be honest I believe there is no more safe place on earth, not because of war or anything humans did or will do,
but because there is going to be a great clean-up,it's a part of Earths natural system, like a human body, to eradicate bacteria and start anew, healthy and clean, without humans.
And the beings after us will wonder where we went, just like we wonder where the Egyptians, Mayans, etc went to.

Where is the safest place on earth

The grave. I'm not kidding.
Scripture (if you believe in it) says 'the living shall envy the dead'.
The dead have no worries, no germs, no illness ..
Unless, of course, you subscribe to the Pirates of the Carribean afterlife -
'Life is hard, why should the afterlife be any different' - (Captain Barbosa, Pirates of the Carribean)

So I say the safest place on earth is ... in the grave.

I'd put money on the locality of The Georgia Guidestones being a pretty safe place to be. They wouldn't go to all that trouble if the coming Earth changes were going to destroy them with earthquakes or sea level rises. Also if society is to collapse, it pays to be among the first to settle in the new seats of power.

It's rather odd, but two out of three of the places the original poster listed are EXTREMELY difficult to survive in. Arctic climates require a lot of preparation and knowledge different than ordinary survival measures.

I'd think a remote island would be a lot safer. One far away from major urban centers/tourist traps, and with a mild climate, lots of indigenous flora and fauna. You can desal the water, fish, etc. and the incredible natural barrier of the ocean around you.

Ha ha ... Maori here would look at you as Honky white trash and probably eat you. ha ha ha

Anyway this country is getting overrun by Chinese expatriates.

Truth is that radiation levels from fall out drop off very quickly in a matter of one or two weeks. If you can survive that period and are not at ground zero when the blast happens then your chances are quite good.

More risk from terrorist nuke attack than all out nuclear war though who knows with NKPR or Iran?

you need to build yourself a sailable submarine. that way if inclimate weather comes in on you, you can drop below 100ft' and weather the storm. then when you know its clear you can surface and recharge you batteries and sail away to safer shallower waters.

new zealand is the safest place on earth, but only on the south island, where the volcanoes have long since been dead. they have food and fresh water. and no predators or poisonous anything

Living Underwater has the Most advantages when considering Airborne Contamination or Nuclear Fallout . The Costs of such a Habitate would be substancial , but your Survivalbility rate in case of a Catastrophy would be somewhat Good IMO .

I know Berkeley is not safe. I am smack in the middle between Hayward and San Andreas faults. I can't afford to go anywhere else, I guess I will just be

well as long as you stay in your sub, you only need to be about 20ft' below the surface. their not going to waste nukes where no ones around. and as far as contaminates you could filter most all that out.

your only problem will be food. as long as your solar panels are good? you can keep charging the batteries and making fresh water and oxygen. your sub would need to be no less than 100' long so you could store lots of food and you would only have enough room for 1 bedmate
anything over that becomes a liability

$50,000 some tools, some plans, and some materials and at least a years head start and you could be living in your custom built sub

If I had the money I would spend my 100 billion on a fortified bunker built into the side of Mt Everest midway up.

A 1,000,000 square foot structure.
It would contain farm animals, and a way to utilize the gaseous by products they release.
Various botanical environments.
Air scrubbers.
A Nuclear reactor purchased from......"my sources"

Hangers containing helicopters.
Forklifts
A supply room the size of a cosco, or Sams club.
Giant fuel tanks
Communication equipment
An arms room with attached range.
And a crew of 50, including doctors, scientists, engineers, and Jessica Alba.

Then I will turn around and be foreclosed on because my ass is broke.

I'd say the best place to be is in South Africa

There is no chance of an ice age with the scorching temperatures.
There has never been any Tornadoes here.
No Volcanoes in the area.
Not situated on any serious Fault lines. *occasion tremors from underground mining*
IF by some chance the magnetic poles shift. You would then be at the highest point in the world.
*seen in 2012 and the day after tomorrow* The Drakensburg mountains..
South Africa has been clever enough to keep good relationships with all Super Continents.
We have one Nuclear power station *Koeburg* and we use it for electricity.. i hope :O

I must say the one factor you're gona have to tackle is.. Crime.
The crime levels are one of the highest in the world.

I myself have personally been robbed once.. and escaped twice..close calls.

Just bring some Guns and Ammo and you'll be fine.

I'd just want to be as far away from people as possible, but without worrying about being in a desert or a tundra. I think a boat is the best choice. Lots of places to go, a portable home, and fish and water all around you! A sub would be great, but I doubt repairs would be easy if anything went wrong.

The hell with all this survival stuff...Why live in agony, sickness and starvation when you can sit in a lawn chair with a nice cold beer and just let it hit you. Painless, fast and done. Hummm....Why bother even trying to live on.....And please don't tell me that it's for humanities sake.

I can answer your question with one word...Doldrums

Also know as the Coriolis Force Located near the equator, the doldrums are where the trade winds meet and where the pressure gradient decreases creating very little winds. That's why sailors find it difficult to cross the equator and why weather systems in the one hemisphere rarely cross into the other hemisphere. The doldrums are also called the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

Weather systems, (Hurricanes) never cross the ITCZ so if one were to say nukes were set off in the northern hemisphere... the winds carrying the fallout would stay north of the Doldrums.. thus anywhere south of side line is safe...

The survival is precisely so you don't have to live in agony, but increase your chances oh having some vestiges of your old "normal"life. I assure you, if it happens in your lifetime (% are it will) your chances of having a slow, painful, starving death increase dramatically if you don't prep.
