OK, you're into country music but you happen to like Eminem.
You're a headbanger but some classical pieces rock your boat.
Easy listening but Creed makes sense to you.

This thread is about tunes that aren't what you normally listening to but you like it just the same.

I'm up. I grew up with the BEST rock EVER, the 70's. Queen, Zep, Sabbath, Heep, Purple, hell, even the Pop music wasn't bad then. Went on to some GREAT Metal in the 80's(the decade that Rock died). Needless to say I like my music hard. Today's got some good stuff too. Billy Talent, Breaking Benjamins, Green Day, you get the point.

My guilty pleasures:

Jimmy Buffett, chillin and cool.
Valdy, gotta have a little folk.
John Prine, gotta have a little more folk.
Johnny Cash, I hate country but Johnny was TOO DAMN GOOD!

What are your tunes? AND your guilty pleasures?

Cash as a guilty pleasure? Never. He's always on the top of my lists.

I have to admit, I am a closet Shania Twain fan. I've been busted on a few occasions singing along to her music. A lot of 90's country, into a lot of it.

Clay Walker, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Alabama, etc., are all artists that I have stashed away in my collection.

Overall I am a huge fan of classic rock with a taste for the new alternative sound. I can pretty much get into anything with a bit of rhythm. I can dig every genre, it is the bands within the genre that I tend to judge.

I grew up on Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Beatles and love them all. Love old rock and roll and blues. Some of my favorite artists are Neil Young, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt.

Guilty Pleasure? I love, love, LOVE Christina Aguilera! Not only has she got the best female voice today (imo), she's too hot for words!

Merle Haggard.

:shk:

It's not that I love the music, it's just that I have fond memories of nights out at this one bar in the city, where he was always on the jukebox. Truth be told, I hate country music, but Haggard and Cash are the exceptions.

Gawd music is alcohol for the soul!

Being 23, I have found on many occasions its good to keep some of my 'guilty pleasures' hidden, as I'd cop a lot!

but here's a list!

Im not really a 'bands' person, more so specific songs becuase they'd hit a nerve.. be it a romantic, a lifestyle, a dream, belief or something.

So,

1. Piano Man - Billy Joel ( I love his music period, but this song is my all time fav )
2. Pretenders - stand by you
3. Kids of America ( the singer chick alludes me )

Tears For Fears, Joy Division (Donnies Darko got me hooked)
and though they are one of my favorite bands, Mindless Self Indulgence, I feel odd for listening to them as much as I do, they really just dont sound like my style.

The Killers, The Geto Boys, Micky Avalon, Steve Earl, Stroke 9.

I have more, but the rest, well its just sad.

Talk about kindred spirits...

I'd throw The Who, The Stones, and Hendrix in there, and I'm not a huge Bonnie Raitt fan, but otherwise

My guilty pleasure? ooooh I can't believe I'm confessing this, but it's Enya.

I like Muse, Pink Floyd, Guns 'n' Roses, Bon Jovi, some Bryan Adams, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers Linkin park etc.

But I strangely really quite like the theme music from Titanic and Jurassic park.

OMG..

we probably have the same music collection.
I was just talking to my wife about how little Christina Aguilera, grew up to be quite a great singer. Not that her voice was bad, in the beginning. It was her choice of pop-crap.
Then we both saw her do a ballad on SNL, along with a duet with Tony Bennett.
Wife turns to me and says "I hate her" LOL..An amazing voice, a great body, and great looking too.
She doesn't seem to be doing the "look how many syllables and notes I can get out of one word" stuff as much any more either, which is a plus..

So, Guilty, on Christina...there I said it..

I should also add, various Bluegrass, I love it's purity, and it's obvious connection to Irish folk music..I grew up around it, Ricky Skaggs used to hang at my Aunt and Uncles house, and jam with his buddies..
Also Alison Krauss, especially with Union Station .

Ooh! One I liked when I was young and dumb was Foriegner, man they rocked didn't they? To be a juke box hero with stars in his eyes, was one line I recall. I heard one guitar just blew me away, can't you just here it? I grew up listening to all the rock stuff through the 70's liked a lot of the stuff from the 80's and started liking country musik when it supposedly became cool to do so. I was enjoying some Brad Paisley till something freak happend to my media player that made him sound like a chipmunk but it didn't effect that bad to the bone pickin he does, He- Hee. I'd give my fretting hand to play like that guy does. He has got to be the best country picker alive today. IMHO.

Lol

Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass - tiresome for outsiders.
70's glitz - including the awful disco.
Jackson 5 lives forever.

Also sprach Zarathustra.
