Coming soon (probably tonight), all member accounts with 0 posts who have not been online in the past 30 days will be deleted. Every so often we do one of these purges. So, if you're reading this and never posted a damn thing, don't worry.

I put in automatic code that purges laggard accounts with zero posts who haven't been online in the past 45 days. That immediately got rid of 1,590 user accounts (sheesh). So this purge now occurs every 15 minutes. I also add code that adds the unique users post in 24 hours, and 7 days to the stats on the left of the board home page. WOW! We had 224 members post something in the past 24 hours, and 493 members post in the past 7 days. Very nice.

As of now, we have exactly 3000 members, hehe.

It would of been alot funnier if William accidentally added a stray line of code and killed off everyone.

Arg, NC, beat me to the 3000.

I am so happy to have found this site. I have found it difficult to find a clear forum in the past. Good work! Keep it up.

Uh... it's hard to tell if you're actually serious... unfortunately, I think you are. This is a privately owned discussion board, the owner is Simon Gray. I help by managing the technology as efficiently as I know how. Among the efficiency strategies are to remove unused database records. In our experience, new members who never post within 30 days... never post. We have a desire to provide an efficiently functioning virtual community for existing active members, and part of offering that is routine database maintenance. Also... we want to make sure our membership stats reflect honesty and reality. Many other boards will promote their "thousand of members" as a badge of honor. Well, we promote our high active membership, among the highest of any discussion board. Maintaining credibility means providing accurate information in all areas, including board stats. In the past 18 months, we have over 2,600 members who have made more than 10 posts... that's something to brag about. [Edited on 12-12-2003 by SkepticOverlord]

[size=10]NIGHT OF THE LONG KNIVES !!

Off to the saltmines with the Laggards.

I think these purges give ATS more integrity.

We have honest membership figures for honest members.
