Not that you haven't already, but take a moment to ponder Mike Krzyzkewski's last name - specifically, the pronunciation...

Shi-shev-skie. Once again: Shi-shev-skie. Crazy, isn't it? Now take away the "ewski" (pronounced "ev-skie"), or the only part that makes a lick of linguistic sense. What you're left with is the most foul disregard for propriety in the history of proper nouns and the English language itself, the hideous notion that "krzyk" should be pronounced "shish," and I'm not buying it...

When junior Yellow Jacket Jarrett Jack jacks it (up), good things happen. The point guard leads Georgia Tech with 15.3 points and a .505 field goal percentage...

When I say "senior center," do you think of an old folks' home or a big man in his final year of eligibility?

And when I say "fast forward," do you think of a remote control option or a speedy center?

World number two Lleyton Hewitt is the Jimmy Connors of today's generation, the feisty jerk you just love to hate. Even the Aussis have a hard time embracing their native son. So when Hewitt faced off against Andy Roddick in the semis of this year's Australian Open, it was a classic battle of jerk versus jerk. You might even say it was a jerk-off...

It hasn't been a good week for Eagles fans. Not just in Philadelphia - in New England, too. Just 48 hours after the Eagles lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX, the "other" Eagles of Boston College (20-1) suffered their first loss of the season at Notre Dame...

Prior to the Big Game, Donovan McNabb accepted full responsibility for Philly's performance. "I'm the quarterback," he said. "I'm the one who's the captain of the ship." And who could disagree? Still, watching Donovan "yak" it up with the game on the line made me wonder: What kind of a captain gets seasick?

Not unlike the Patriots, Elton Brand isn't just consistent - he's consistently consistent. In his six-year career, the Clippers forward has a career-high scoring average of 20.4, a career-low of 18.2. His career-high rebounding average is 11.6, his career-low 9.5. His career-high minutes played is 39.7, his career-low 37.0. So forget about everyday low name brand prices. When it comes to the name Brand, Elton is money in the bank...

Anyone claiming to be a "huge sports fan" should ask himself if size really has anything to do with it at all...

Much like "backward regression," there's something redundant about "forward progress." I repeat: There's something redundant about "forward progress." As if regular old "progress" isn't specific enough, the good people at the NFL insist on reminding us where it's headed. Is "backward progress" even possible? Regressing forward, I'm Dean Christopher...

Those comments must have come from John Madden, the king of oxymorons and obvious statements...

Speaking of which, I've just got to add to the list "Naval Intelligence". Not sports related, but I wasted too much of my life there...
