From Websters Governmental to English dictionary
Democracy, di-'mä-kr&-sE, noun, plural -cies
Etymology: Middle French democratie, from Late Latin democratia, from Greek dEmokratia, from dEmos + -kratia -cracy
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Bushes) that exalts nation and often race above the
individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and
forcible suppression of opposition, but maintains an illusion of choice in the psycologically controlled population. The system usually supplies two
parties, purporting to be of opposite political beliefs, but really representing the same elite, for the population to choose from. Usually the party
doesn't trust it's population to make the correct political choices, they often feel the necessity to help by rigging elections.
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control
