OK on a scale of one to ten rate how Conservative you are with 10 being the highest end of the spectrum and one the lowest.
You can have different ratings for different aspects of your political views. Give an explanation as to why

I will start off.
Economic issues 7 out of 10 I added half a point because I am a Ronald Reagan fan.

General Im in favor of low tax rates or abolishing certain taxes. Personal responsibility ranks as very important to me you run into trouble when the government assumes responsibility for society.

I'm less Conservative on the issue of workers rights. Even thou I'm not a fan of unions I still think that workers should get a fair go. The sky isn't going to fall in if workers get time and half on a public holiday and if they can stack leave with in reason.

Social Issues.
4 out of 10.
I was inclined to myself zero out of 10 but since aspects immigration are social issues and I don't support the likes of open borders I gave myself a score of 4 out of 10. Emigrants should integrate into society and if they don't like the values of there host country they can always leave. Emigrants who commit a crime should be kicked out of there host country.

On other social issues I'm very Liberal I support the likes of gay marriage and I am also pro choice.

I'm probably like 9/10 with economic issues and maybe a 4/10 on social issues too.

I'm anti-abortion, though support gay legal unions (but don't want it to be called marriage). I do believe in the legalization of all drugs without a prescription required. I have about the same feelings on immigration I think.

I am probably a 9.5/10 on economic issues and probably a 6.5/10 on social issues. The social issue depends on what you are talking about.

I don't know. I used to consider myself a conservative Republican. But these days I'm more like the laid back Republican. It's like I have Barry Goldwater disease. Maybe what that really means is that I'm a Libertarian at heart. Do what you want, just don't hurt anyone else in the process...

Abortion: I support Ro v. wade. Its between the person and their God. And I say that as a Christian.

Iraq: We need to redeploy our troops asap. There is no military solution. Only more death. Its time for Iraqis to stand up and take control.

Economy: I'm all for capitalism, but there has to be accountability.

Health care: I used to be opposed to universal healthcare, but now I see there must be some kind of help for those who cannot afford it. We are a rich nation and those of us who earn a comfortable living can afford to shave 30 cents off our weekly paycheck to help those who are disadvantaged. Now I sound like a socialist! lol If you only knew me in the past!

We should build our military back up to where we were at the end of the 80s.
w
We should disengage ground forces from S. Korea and W. Europe; bring them home and station them along our southern borders.

If we trained our forces along our southern border, illegals would not be able to cross there....

I also support the 2nd ammendment. The right to keep and bear arms (responsibly). We all have a right to protect ourselves.

I could go on, but am just curious to see if anyone responds to this so far..

I must have the Barry Goldwater disease also.

I don't mind paying taxes if the money is well spent and not spent on pork.
Im for a flat rate tax for all business and personal taxes. No Deductions.
Guns- sure
death penality-positive, fast and sure
Social issues- live and let live

My primary deviation form the main stream GOP thinking is to keep the likes of Falwell, Robertson, etc, completely out of politics.

My Foreign Policy 1 - 10

Hmm,...

Chuck Norris.

www.webwards.net...

So that makes infinity look finite, let alone the number 10.

Domestic Policy 1 - 10

4 - Just south of Giuliani
I'd enforce the borders, crack down on businesses that hire illegals, legalize soft drugs(Marijuana) in some states as long as it was in private use.

I think it's a perfect balance.

I'd say overall I'm a middle of the road conservative. Like many, I think gay rights are important. I'm anti-abortion, thats an ethical issue for me. Pro-2nd ammendment. I'm for the legalization of certain drugs(marijuana, psychedelics ect) but wont stand for coc aine or heroin to be legal, they are dangerous drugs. I'm for a strong military, low taxes, small government, and welfare reform.

I dont know what that is on a scale of 1-10, I'm all over the place.

Anyone put a place for me 1-10?

I'm 10/10 on economic issues but on Social Issues I'm kinda 3/10.

I think gays should have the right to civil union, not marriage however, simply because technically its not marriage and it will keep Christians from whining (I'm not religious), I think the government should stay secular, and thats really all I have to say. I also believe in some gun control but I think we should still be allowed to own them.

Thing is, I'm more of a libertarian because the Republicans do a lot of things I do not like.

I took that poliitcal test that was floating around here a few weeks ago. (I don't have a link to it). It was your political compass. It said that I was almost dead center. However, I'd put me at 8/10??

Death Penalty - against it except in extreme cases for self defense.

Abortion - against it except in the case where the mother's life is in danger.

Gay Marriage - states rights issue. DO NOT touch the US Constitution.

ANWAR - states rights issue. Let them drill it.

Gun Control - waiting period okay, but otherwise it's a fundamental right to bear arms.

Alternative energy - end dependence on foreign oil. Windmills and solar power, etc. I'm ahead of Kennedy and Kerry on this - considering they tried to block windmills in Massachussetts.

Kyoto - Kyoto is hogwash. It places unfair burden on US, but allows developing countries to pollute to their hearts content.

Death tax - end it NOW.

Foreign aid - end it NOW.

Souther border security wall - build it NOW. Have our troops defend our own borders instead of foreign ones (like Iraq).

Amnesty for illegals - hell no. Major penalties should be placed on those who hire illegals. Ship illegals back - anchor babies and all.

NASA - investigate. fix. expand.

United Nations - get America out of the UN and the UN out of America. This is broken and corrupt beyond repair. It should be dismantled and something better put in it's place.

Global warming - Skeptics Guide Everyone around the world loooooooooves to point the finger at America for this, but the facts don't support the anti-American hype (as usual
).

Strong military at all times and no matter what the rest of the world does or thinks. Take care of America first.

Id say 10/10 for economic issues. Taxation should be entirely volutary or at the very least whatever we "owe" in taxes should be delegated by every one of us to the programs we wish to support. That way peacenicks dont have to pay for war and I dont have to pay for government schools and fingerpainting hippies.
Id like to see a return of real allodial ownership. No more of this register and tax crap the government likes to pull. You bought a house its yours. So is the land. Things like building permits are facist and are enemies of liberty.

Enough with this free trade bull. Jack up tariffs and give American idustry the room to grow and employ Americans.

I want complete and absolute deregulation. If its a free market let it be free.

The feds only purpose should be to enforce the Constitution as the law of the land and nothing more. Its shouldnt tax us, regulate us, reward us or punish us. In fact the entire entity of the fed should just be some guy with a rifle in a room with the Consitution.

Social Issues 5/10
If some junky wants to suck crack untill death let him do it. And let somebody profit from it. Just dont hold anyone else responsable for the junkies death or addiction other than the junky. He knew what he was doing.
Prisons are for theives and murderers. Not crackheads. Let them die under bridges. Call me to remove the corpse. Ill charge by the pound.

Lock down those borders North and South. You want in? Apply for it and come through the right way. Knock before you enter.

Everyone should have a gun unless youre a felon.

If homosexuals want to get married what do I care? Why should anyone care. What goes on in the bedroom between two consenting adults is of no consequence to me.

Abortion is unconstitutional. We are guaranteed the right to LIFE, liberty and the puruit of happiness. Unless bringing the chld to term violates the mothers right to life the mother has no right to violate the childs right to life.

Same applies to capital punishment. We do not have the right to take that life but we have the right to make the rest of his life as miserable as possible. Id like to see hard-as-hell larbor added to these life sentences.

East Coast,

Haven't seen you in a while man. Yeah, I remember you from back in the day.

I still state that I am Republican. The only problem is that the Republican party today is actually the Libertarian party. In my humble opinion. So.. I am having a hard time with your 1-10 scaling. I guess a true libertarian would be 10 right? So I would say I am about 8.

Keep the military strong. I believe we have an obligation to do so. However, military action should not be taken unless there is an imminent threat to our country.

The 2nd Amendment needs to be defended. I'm kind of a whack-o on this one. I don't believe there should be any "infringements" at all. Honestly, if you can regulate the 2nd Amendment... Why can't you regulate the first?

If California wants to allow gay marriage so be it. But why does that mean Georgia does as well? I just picked Georgia out of a hat.

Legalize it... I don't smoke it. But, I don't care if my lawyers, doctors, or politicians want to smoke it either. Hard stuff still needs to be illegal though.

Abortion... I don't believe the Feds should legislate morality. I personally think it is wrong.

UN... Get our government out of this corrupt pension creating pointless socialistic JOKE.

Health care... Leave it up to the States!

This is my thinking as well, if both sides are willing to negotiate and make reasonable concessions, theres nothing we cant work out. But thats just the problem, no one wants to give ground. I have come to realize very recently, that my ideology is more along the lines of libertarianism, which according to Ronald Reagan(one of my heroes) is the very heart of true conservatism. I believe this to my very bones. Though I cant say I am for gun control, other than thourough background checks before obtaining one. Dems and Repubs do a lot of things I dont like as well, but I still consider myself a conservative libertarian though I am what some would call "liberal" on some social issues.

I am definitely a 10/10 hardcore Reagan conservative when it comes to economic issues.

IMO his policies are the reason that Clinton had a booming economy during the beginning of his terms. George W has also followed the same model and has made our eceonomy the strongest in history witht he lowest unemployment.

On social issues, I am probably more of an 8/10.

I am against gay marriage, I think we need a lot more border security, I am pro-life because everyone deserves a fair shot. About the only thing I am a little left of center on is marijuana, why not sell it and tax it since the effects of it are not much worse than cigarettes.

LudaChris,

I also consider myself leaning toward libertarianism, but I would like to know how you feel about the flat tax?

I think fat tax could work if we make reforms in our criminal justice system, and stop sending people to jail for small time drug offenses, but thats my unprofessional opinion. It would save us loads of money, the average cost of supporting an inmate for a year is about 30 grand, think about it. I'll have to do a bit more research about a flat tax though and what it would exactly mena, I admit I dont have that much economical knowledge but I do know that reforms in certain areas of government to gear towards efficiency it could work.

From what I understand about the flat tax, which is limited, it basically eliminates income tax, but brings sales tax on luxury items to around 20%. I am not sure about what else there is to it, I will have to do some more research as well.

Well, I would like to be able to say that I am 1/10 in general, but since
the left does not share all of my views 100% of the time, I knew I would
be considered conservative in some way.

Social issues: 3/10, this is only because I believe in gun rights.
Economic issues: 2/10.

When it comes to personal responsibility, I am 75% conservative
apparnetly to.

Would have to say Im an overall 9.

Dont like pork, most of our taxes seem to go this route one way or another.

Gun rights=ya

Abortion=no, even if it was a rape, the baby dindnt have anything to do with it.

Gay rights= no, its not natural (in my opinion)

Immigration= Do it legaly or get out.

death tax= No, What the hell?

Welfare= Yes, but on a timed, limited basis

Just some of my opinions folks, They wont change no matter what you say either!

I have found that I agree with most of your ideals here with the exception of guns being unavailable/illegal to felons. There are many felony charges that one could have which would have nothing to do with violence or indicate irresponsibility.

The only other point of disagreement for me would be to legalize all drugs without prescription. I agree with legalizing them all- but some of them should be tracked to avoid additional crimes and dangers to society which has largely been proved that certain drugs lead to. I am laughing about your charging by the pound for the removal/disposal of dead addicts from under bridges!!!!!!!! I would also include and extra service charge for dealing with the smell....say 20% gratuity?

I don't know where my rating would be on here. I took a political test on the net and they labeled me a conservative-libertarian- for what its worth!

Thanks dk3000 for reviving this thread and WELCOME TO THE CONSERVATIVE FORUM Looks like you found a home where people appreciate your views and your honest expression of them...

As for my stance...

I am definitely a 10 on economics, or even an 11...
8 on ALL federal Government Issues..
About a 5 on other Social Issues as I do believe certain Social Programs are very necessary, just not administered by the Feds unless completely necessary.

I still consider myself to be a RABID, Foaming at the Mouth, Hard Core, Limbaugh Conservative. The age old problem with Conservatives is a lack of compassion and sometimes common sense. Social programs are not all bad, just the abuse of them.
