I'm skeptical of this, since Saddam does not protest or seem upset. His last words were reported to be:
"Dear faithful people," the letter added, "I say goodbye to you, but I will be with the merciful God who helps those who take refuge in him and who
will never disappoint any honest believer."
This is not the same Saddam who railed and ranted during his trial.
I was wondering if he'd lose his composure.
The thing about -not- showing it is that we'll never know if he was spirited away. I presume he still has money stashed away to pay off his
captors.
